Immersed in the countryside yet so close to Rome, Madonnella Agricola is a small farm recently founded by us - Mariangela and Giulio - a couple in life and in business, art historians with a passion for beauty and nature.
Our house is open to those wishing to relax, welcomed by the beauty of nature and the friendliness of the place, to enjoy a space of encounters, conversations, self discovery and inspiration and to participate in the most diverse activities for grown ups and children.
The guest-house is located in a large wooden house, surrounded by olive groves and camphor trees whose branches gently bend towards the windows. On a sunny day one can eat or simply sit for a drink on the terrace immersed in olive trees that overlook the valley, or even enjoy a picnic on the big lawn surrounded by ancient cork oaks.
Mariangela's cuisine stems from the heritage of her family recipes and her origins. She is also influenced by her travels and her well developed sense of aesthetics, which she applies to food presentation. Above all, hers is a simple homely cuisine, performed with accurateness and love. The food is transformed with creativity and sapience, all the ingredients for our dishes picked fresh in the big vegetable garden we grow close to the woods, be it seasonal veggies or wild greens.
The bread, pasta and cakes are home made, seasonal fruit comes from the neighbouring areas and the rest from organic farms owned by friends.
Mariangela and I spent a lot of time refurbishing the farm to reflect our vision.
The large wooden house has been restored to welcome guests wishing to enjoy the countryside.
The rooms are bright and entirely furnished with natural and hypoallergenic materials like wood, hemp, clay and lime. Each room has large windows to capture the light and colors from the outside. Every corner of the house has been designed with great care and enriched with unique pieces. I’m an artist myself, so my latest creations always find place at Madonnella Agricola, where they are often purchased by our guests as a “memento” of the time they spent with us.
The lounge is equipped with a large library full of art catalogues that you can browse by the fireplace; plants also thrive indoor, adding a whimsical touch to the atmosphere.
Madonnella Agricola can accommodate different kinds of events. In particular, we like the idea of setting up a calendar of happenings that reflect our taste.
In the summer, there is a beautiful natural amphitheater surrounded by high cypresses that is the ideal venue for theater performances and movie screenings; the Tea House, a place that seems suspended in time, can host narrower meetings; on the large lawn and by the natural swimming pool one can get together for a chat.
Our guests tell us they love the atmosphere at Madonnella Agricola, and the greatest compliment for us is when they tell us they felt like part of our family.
We have 7 cats, one happy dog and of course our daughter Maria, and we all live in a different part of the farm, but at walking distance from our guests – offering both privacy and assistance as required.
We hope this description has given you a sense for what it is like to spend time at our farm.
We look forward to welcoming you soon
