The Bed & Breakfast L'Aquila del Parco is located in Pizzoli, the most populated town in the Aterno valley after the capital, surrounded by the greenery of the Alta Valle dell’Aterno and at the entrance of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. Its location is especially advantageous for those who wish to stay in a peaceful and natural setting without sacrificing proximity to the main healthcare, university, and military centers in the region.
Within just a 5-minute drive, you can reach the district of Coppito, home to the San Salvatore Regional Hospital and the university campus that houses the faculties of Medicine, Psychology, Biotechnology, and Mathematical, Physical, and Natural Sciences. This area also hosts the School for Inspectors and Superintendents of the Guardia di Finanza, which regularly conducts public competitions and training courses, making the B&B an excellent option for those participating in these selections.
The historic center of L’Aquila is less than ten minutes away and boasts a rich artistic and cultural heritage, much of which has been restored following the 2009 earthquake. Notable events such as the Celestinian Forgiveness in August and the Mountain Festival in October make the stay even more vibrant and interesting. Nearby, you’ll find private clinics like Villa Letizia and Villa Dorotea, along with numerous shopping centers including Aquilone, Globo Center, and Decathlon.
The area is also perfect for sports enthusiasts and outdoor activities. About 20 minutes away is Campotosto Lake, an ideal spot for fishing, water sports, or simply unwinding in the woods. In the winter months, nearby ski resorts such as Campo Felice, Ovindoli, and Campo Imperatore offer facilities for alpine and Nordic skiing. Motorcyclists and cyclists particularly enjoy the SS80 at the Capannelle Pass, a scenic road famous for its curves and breathtaking landscapes.
The area is well connected, approximately an hour from Rome, and serves as an excellent starting point to explore the more authentic side of Abruzzo, filled with nature, tradition, and hospitality.
