The Masseria Uccio, dating back to the 17th century, served as a self-sufficient agricultural hub in the Salento inland, organized around the overseer who managed production and labor. Daily life was marked by fieldwork and animal husbandry, with men, women, and children engaged in both agricultural and domestic tasks. Women took care of cooking and livestock, while children assisted with the animals. Despite the harsh conditions, the masseria exemplified a community model built on cooperation and sharing.

Area Campagna

The Masseria is located in the heart of the countryside, within the Tricase estate, just 3 kilometers from the charming tourist harbor. From this delightful starting point, the main attractions of Salento, such as S. Maria di Leuca, Otranto, Pescoluse, Gallipoli, Castro, and Porto Cesareo, can be easily reached within a few minutes by car.

Situated on the hill of Contrada Madonna di Fatima, overlooking the nearby village, the Masseria provides an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, making it ideal for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of crowded tourist spots. The numerous paths surrounding the property are perfect for enjoyable walks or bike rides, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in nature.

To reach the Masseria by car, it is advisable to take the A14 motorway from Milan to Bari or the A16 from Rome to Bari, exiting at BARI NORD and continuing on the SS 16 towards Brindisi-Lecce. Then, proceed on the SS 275 towards Maglie – S. Maria di Leuca, and after passing Montesano Salentino, take the exit for Tricase.

For those traveling by air, Brindisi Casale Airport is 95 km away, with a shuttle service available to Lecce. Bari Palese Airport is located 180 km from the Masseria. In Lecce, travelers can use the services of the Ferrovie del Sud Est or the S.T.P. bus lines.

For train travel, one can take a train operated by the Ferrovie dello Stato to Lecce, and then transfer to the Ferrovie del Sud Est for the Tricase Station. It is recommended to rent a car or use your own for exploring this beautiful region.
