At the foot of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, just a short distance from Parma, L’Antica Falegnameria welcomes guests into a rustic stone building from the mid-19th century, which was once dedicated to the construction and repair of wagon wheels. Today, following careful renovations, it retains its original charm, featuring stone interiors, exposed beams, and simple furnishings that evoke the warm and inviting style of a mountain cabin.

The living room, with a fireplace always ready to welcome those returning from a walk, serves as the heart of the home, where guests can find a self-service breakfast in the morning, complete with fresh products, homemade pastries, local honey, and drinks available at all times. The rustic-style kitchen, equipped with a wood-burning stove, can be used upon request for a small additional fee.

Dario and Federica, along with Enzo - an exceptional guide and deep connoisseur of the area - greet travelers with genuine hospitality, sharing their passion for nature and the products of the Apennines. The location is perfect for exploring the hills of Val Parma, including visits to Parmigiano Reggiano dairies and the ham producers of Langhirano, hikes in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park, and walks that, on clear days, offer views all the way to the Gulf of La Spezia. Also just a few minutes away is the Castle of Torrechiara, one of the most enchanting historical gems in the region.
Rooms and Rates
The self-service breakfast is designed to provide freedom and variety. In the refrigerator, you will find milk, yogurt, juices, and water, while the kitchen table is stocked with cookies, tarts, cereals, fresh fruit, bread, homemade jam, and honey. For coffee, you can choose between a traditional moka pot and instant coffee, allowing you to start your day according to your own tastes and pace.

Area Collina

The Val Parma, home to L’Antica Falegnameria, is a region that beautifully combines nature, history, and gastronomy. Located about 40 minutes from the center of Parma, a UNESCO city recognized for its culinary creativity, it provides an opportunity to explore exceptional products such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma right at their source.

The landscape features gentle hills, forests, and waterways, making it perfect for hikes of all levels within the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. Here, trails offer breathtaking views on clear days, stretching all the way to the Gulf of La Spezia, as seen from Monte Marmagna.

Just a short drive away, the Castle of Torrechiara captivates visitors with its crenellated towers and Renaissance frescoes, and it is part of the circuit of the Castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. The area is also ideal for those who appreciate authentic experiences, such as local festivals, visits to wineries, or strolls through charming villages and scenic roads that reflect the life of the Apennines.
