Podere Palazzo Illica is an elegant 17th-century residence that once belonged to Diogene Illica, the father of the famous librettist Luigi Illica. Preserved in its original architecture and furnishings, the palace is located in San Lorenzo, just 2 km from Castell’Arquato, one of the most charming villages in the Piacenza province. Its strategic location makes it an ideal starting point for visiting the nearby thermal complexes of Bacedasco, Salsomaggiore, Tabiano, and the historic Visconti Fortress.

From the renovation of an old 19th-century building that was once a stable, Locanda Illica was born, now offering triple, quadruple, and quintuple rooms designed to blend modern comfort with respect for the original structure. In the main building, the rooms once occupied by the Illica family have been transformed into elegant double and triple rooms with private bathrooms, adorned with period features. The spacious and bright interiors overlook the Italian garden, while olive and walnut floors enhance the refined atmosphere.

Guests can unwind in the charming restaurant area, characterized by brick and sandstone arches, or in the library, which boasts a wide selection of books and the opportunity to participate in language courses. For business events and seminars, the venue offers a conference room styled “Old England” that accommodates up to 70 people, as well as a smaller seminar room for 20. A massage area is available upon request.

Outdoor activities include walks through olive groves and forests, fitness trails leading to the ridge of Monte Rosso with views of Castell’Arquato, and guided e-bike excursions. Guests also have access to a small gym located in the former vaulted room. From May to October, the outdoor pool provides an additional relaxing space immersed in nature.

Surrounded by vineyards, forests, and clay hills, the estate is situated at the foot of Monte Rosso in a panoramic location of great charm, perfect for those seeking a stay that combines history, culture, and nature.

The dining room at Podere Palazzo Illica is a space of exceptional beauty, where history merges with the joy of togetherness. Located in the ancient double-height hall, characterized by majestic full-brick arches and sandstone from the Arda, it welcomes guests into a warm and authentically Emilian atmosphere. Every stone in the walls tells centuries of history, creating a unique setting where time seems to slow down, inviting a rediscovery of the joys of dining.

The decor, simple yet elegant, is designed to enhance the culinary experience while honoring tradition and communal moments. The kitchen team passionately attends to every detail, ensuring an experience that celebrates the flavors of the region. The chef, a true creator of culinary masterpieces, offers a constantly changing menu inspired by the seasons and the richness of local cuisine.

In the unmistakable setting of Locanda Illica, every meal transforms into a sensory journey to be savored slowly, allowing oneself to be captivated by the quality of the ingredients and the enchanting atmosphere of the place.
