Corte Croce

Area Campagna

Gonzaga is located in the heart of the Mantuan plain, in an area that combines the charm of the Lombard countryside with the artistic and culinary richness of the province of Mantova. The landscapes are characterized by cultivated fields, rows of poplar trees, and waterways that create a serene horizon, ideal for walking and cycling along country roads or the banks of canals.

The center of Gonzaga maintains a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Notable attractions include the Rocca, dating back to the 14th century and now hosting exhibitions and events, and the Church of San Benedetto Abate, which features artworks that reflect the long history of the village. Every September, the historic Millenaria Fair takes place, one of the oldest in Italy, dedicated to agriculture and local excellence, transforming the town into a vibrant meeting point of tradition and innovation.

In close proximity are the most famous art cities of the region. Mantova, with its artificial lakes and Renaissance palaces, is a UNESCO World Heritage site worth visiting to admire the Ducal Palace, Palazzo Te, and the squares overlooking the water. Parma, Modena, and Verona are also easily accessible in under an hour and offer a rich cultural, musical, and culinary heritage.

Local cuisine is another highlight of the area: visitors can savor traditional Mantuan dishes such as pumpkin tortelli, risotto alla pilota, Mantuan salami, and sbrisolona, all accompanied by wines from the morainic hills.

With its blend of art, history, and flavors, the Gonzaga area serves as an ideal starting point for those looking to explore the best of Lombardy and Emilia, while also enjoying the serene and authentic pace of rural life.
