Around Viganò, the rolling countryside of Brianza is a patchwork of villages, woodland, fields and small rural settlements. Montevecchia and Curone Valley Regional Park has eleven marked trails through its protected landscape. Routes vary in difficulty, and some offer shorter walking options.
The park’s itineraries include upper Montevecchia and the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, both overlooking the surrounding hills. Along the way, walkers pass vineyards, terraced fields, the Ca’ del Soldato Park Centre and the Galbusera Nera and Galbusera Bianca farmsteads—reminders of the area’s rural heritage.
Woodlands, streams and dry grasslands offer a variety of natural habitats to explore. The official maps can help you choose a route based on its elevation gain, the time you have and your level of fitness. Check the park’s notices before setting out. Cycling and horse riding are restricted on some sections, so not every trail is suitable for these activities.
For a change of scenery, consider visiting Lecco and the eastern branch of Lake Como, or heading to Monza or Bergamo. Check travel times and distances for each destination, and make sure to leave enough time both for hiking and for enjoying the villa’s park.
