“Al Tramonto” is located where an ancient farmhouse once stood, a silent witness to World War II that served as a logistical base for German troops. After being long abandoned, the farmhouse has been revitalized as a distinctive accommodation facility, known for its commitment to the environment and quality of stay. The restoration focused on using natural and eco-friendly materials, in line with an energy system powered solely by renewable sources. The philosophy behind “Al Tramonto” is one of deep respect for nature and the genuine beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Nestled in the Mediterranean scrub, the farmhouse enjoys a prime position on a natural terrace overlooking, on one side, the coastal village of Portopalo di Capo Passero – the southernmost municipality in Europe – and, on the other side, the pristine beaches of Carratois and the Isola delle Correnti. Here, every stay becomes a multisensory experience, filled with the scent of the sea, the vibrant colors of the vegetation, and the rejuvenating silence of nature.

The rooms, built within the original thick stone walls measuring over seventy centimeters, provide excellent sound insulation and maintain a consistently pleasant internal temperature. The spaces are well-appointed and equipped with all comforts: air conditioning, telephone, free Wi-Fi, LCD TV, minibar, complimentary toiletries, room service, and daily cleaning. Guests also have access to a monitored parking area.

The establishment is located just 2 km from the center of Portopalo and 9 km from Marzamemi, making it easy to explore the two most charming locations along the southeastern Sicilian coast. Within less than 5 km, one can reach the sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters of the Isola delle Correnti, a paradise for nature lovers seeking to experience the sea in its truest form.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast, served every morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, is a special time designed to provide a delicious and authentic awakening, reflecting quality and local tradition. The offerings follow a European style but are enhanced with fresh, selected products, with a particular focus on the exceptional items from Sicily.

Among the savory options, you'll find fresh cured meats, cheeses, and freshly baked bread, available both in slices and as small rolls. Toasted bread is also offered, which can be enjoyed with butter and a wide selection of jams, including artisanal citrus varieties made in Sicily using traditional methods. For those with a sweet tooth, there are assorted croissants, homemade cakes or fresh pound cakes, artisanal and classic cookies, whole grain and traditional cereals, yogurt, and fresh fruit.

During the season, breakfast is further enriched with freshly squeezed Sicilian orange juice and other local specialties such as cherry tomatoes, ricotta, watermelon, mulberries, and sorbets, providing an even more intense taste of the region.

The bar remains open throughout breakfast, allowing guests to enjoy cappuccinos, coffee, tea, and other hot beverages in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Area Campagna

The area where "Al Tramonto" is located is among the most enchanting and unspoiled parts of southeastern Sicily, offering breathtaking views and a rare authenticity. We are just a few kilometers from Portopalo di Capo Passero, the southernmost point of the island, where the Ionian Sea meets the Mediterranean. This small fishing village still retains its genuine character, with a lively harbor, seaside restaurants, and traditions tied to maritime life. Strolling through its streets means connecting with the deepest soul of Sicily, surrounded by marine flavors, citrus scents, and a slow pace of life.

Just a short distance away are the stunning beaches of Isola delle Correnti and Carratois, emblematic spots along the Syracuse coast, characterized by golden sands and crystal-clear waters that invite relaxation and contemplation. Isola delle Correnti, in particular, connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy isthmus, embodies a wild charm, where nature reigns supreme and grants visitors a sense of absolute freedom.

Approximately 9 km away lies the famous village of Marzamemi, known for its vibrant summer atmosphere, seaside venues, and ancient tuna fishing facilities, now transformed into elegant cultural and dining spaces. Marzamemi serves as a meeting point between tradition and modernity, making it a must-visit for those wanting to immerse themselves in the heart of Sicilian culture.

The natural setting of the property is dominated by Mediterranean scrub, with its vibrant colors and intoxicating scents of aromatic herbs, prickly pears, and broom. The area offers numerous opportunities for hiking, cycling, or driving through nature reserves, archaeological sites, solitary lighthouses, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the sea.

Staying here means choosing a slow, authentic, and profound pace of life, where every corner tells a story of history, the sea, and an untouched Sicily.
