The area where La Casina del Forno and La Casetta are located is a genuine corner of Eastern Sicily, situated at the base of Mount Pancali, an ancient, now dormant volcano that dominates the landscape. Here, nature reveals its primal strength: untamed paths, Mediterranean scrub, and fields dotted with wild asparagus invite refreshing walks, ideal for those who enjoy trekking and direct contact with the environment.
Not far away are Lentini and Carlentini, two towns that preserve typically Sicilian atmospheres. The lively streets filled with markets, artisan shops, pizzerias where one can taste the famous covered pizza, and taverns serving authentic dishes make the stay even more genuine. Every Thursday in Lentini, a local market takes place where fresh cheeses, ricottas, cured meats, olives, and other traditional products can be purchased. Popular festivals add color and tradition: in May, the Feast of the Saints features spectacular fireworks and the evocative procession of the naked, while in Carlentini, at the end of August, the patronal feast is celebrated with events and fireworks displays.
From the Ciricò hill, the view extends to Mount Etna and the lights of the surrounding towns, offering unforgettable scenery, especially at night. Centrally located, the area is also ideal for visiting Sicily’s great cultural and natural treasures: Syracuse and the island of Ortigia, Catania with its baroque streets, Noto with its baroque masterpieces, Ragusa Ibla, and the natural reserves of Vendicari and Pantalica. Day trips also allow access to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Scala dei Turchi, and Piazza Armerina with its famous mosaics.
This territory combines unspoiled landscapes, archaeological sites, folklore, and authentic flavors, providing travelers the opportunity to experience Sicily not just as a tourist destination, but as an intense and memorable experience.
