The Trambileno and Boccaldo area, located in the heart of southern Trentino, is a region that exists between nature, history, and spirituality. Nestled between the valleys of Leno di Vallarsa and Leno di Terragnolo, this area offers breathtaking views of Vallagarina and Monte Pasubio, a significant site from World War I. Today, the ancient military paths have transformed into some of the most picturesque hiking routes in Trentino, such as the Strada delle 52 Gallerie and the Strada degli Eroi, spectacular trails that wind through rocky spires and steep ravines.
Trambileno retains the essence of an ancient mountain village, where time appears to flow more slowly. Its thirteen hamlets, originating from medieval farms, still reflect the rural life of the past, characterized by silence, forests, and quaint stone churches. In the hamlet of Moscheri, you can find the Sanctuary of Madonna de La Salette, built in 1856 by emigrants returning from France; this little church overlooks a tranquil pine forest, framed by capitals depicting the Stations of the Cross.
For history enthusiasts, the nearby Forte Pozzacchio is a must-visit. Carved entirely from rock, it stands as an extraordinary example of Austro-Hungarian military engineering and is currently open for tours. From Boccaldo, a road leads to the Vincenzo Lancia Refuge, set among the meadows of Pasubio and serving as a starting point for hikes to Cima del Col Santo or Val Trughile, which are particularly loved by ski mountaineering and mountain biking enthusiasts.
Those seeking relaxation will find peace at the San Colombano lakes, small bodies of crystal-clear water perfect for a picnic or a refreshing swim, while climbers can challenge the cliffs at Pian del Levro, which are also suitable for beginners. The Eremo di San Colombano, accessible via a staircase carved into the rock, completes the picture of a landscape where nature and spirituality harmoniously intertwine.
Trambileno is a place that captivates those in search of authenticity and a connection to the land: a meeting point between the past and present, where every path encourages you to slow down, breathe, and be enchanted by the mountains.
