Malga Zanga, also known as the donkey lodge, is situated in a sunny clearing on Mount Velo, at an altitude of 1,100 meters and just 11 km from Arco. Surrounded by beech, larch, and fir forests, it offers a wide view that encompasses the Brenta Dolomites, Lake Garda, and the Vallagarina valley. Its location makes it an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility, nature, and authenticity.

The facility features seven spacious rooms, furnished in wood and equipped with private bathrooms, making it perfect for couples, families, and groups. Common areas include a cozy stube and a dining room that opens onto a porch overlooking the garden, providing a peaceful retreat in the serene mountain atmosphere.

The on-site restaurant serves traditional alpine dishes such as polenta with goulash, potato cakes with melted cheese and porcini mushrooms, and hearty warm soups. Upon request, guests can also enjoy pasta dishes and meat-based second courses. There are vegetarian options available, made with vegetables sourced from nearby gardens in the Val di Gresta, including pumpkin or savoy cabbage risottos, old-fashioned soups, and baked vegetable sides.

The lodge is also a starting point for numerous hiking trails. Families and children can enjoy a unique experience walking with donkeys up to Monte Creino, where World War I trenches offer views of Lake Garda. For hiking enthusiasts, multi-day self-guided treks are organized, leading up to Monte Stivo.

Additionally, the lodge provides free Wi-Fi, the option to stay on a bed and breakfast or half-board basis, and a simple yet warm hospitality, perfect for those who appreciate a slower pace and a genuine connection with nature.

Hey, I'm Lorija

Malga Zanga is managed by Lorija, who serves as a key point of contact for guests throughout their stay, always available with discretion and kindness. During the summer months, the operational management is entrusted to the cooperative "La Mulattiera" from Norcia, led by Roberto Canali, a mountain enthusiast with an in-depth knowledge of the area. Roberto energetically oversees the activities at the malga, handling hospitality, cooking, and excursions with the donkeys, which he tends to with great care. His presence helps foster a warm and authentic atmosphere, where a love for nature and animals is evident in every aspect of the experience provided.

Area Collina

The area surrounding Malga Zanga is a true gem of Trentino, where nature flourishes unimpeded and the landscape offers breathtaking views. Located on Mount Velo at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the malga overlooks a vast valley stretching from the Brenta Dolomites to Lake Garda, presenting a captivating scene in every season.

Nestled in a peaceful clearing, the malga is enveloped by forests of beech, larch, and fir that fill the air with their fragrance and provide shade and coolness during summer days. Away from traffic and noise, this place is perfect for those seeking tranquility, relaxation, and a genuine connection with the mountains. The winding roads leading to the malga pass through increasingly lush and untouched landscapes, making the journey a significant part of the experience.

Its strategic location allows for numerous excursions, whether on foot or by mountain bike. Mount Stivo, with its 360-degree views, is a favorite destination for hikers, while Mount Creino, which can also be easily accessed by the malga’s donkeys, holds the trenches from World War I, now transformed into an exhilarating viewpoint overlooking Lake Garda.

Nearby, you can also find the ski slopes of Polsa, reachable in about 40 minutes, and the city of Trento, located less than an hour away. Despite its proximity to urban areas, one feels as if they are in a world of their own here, where time slows down and every detail narrates the deep bond between humanity and the mountains.
