Nestled in the lush greenery of Garfagnana, alongside the Turrite stream and within the Apuan Park, Agriturismo Cornali welcomes its guests to an authentic setting where the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside blends with well-appointed accommodations and amenities designed for relaxation. Established in 2014 as part of the Graziani Michela Agricultural Company, which has embraced organic farming for over three years, it has achieved ICEA certification for all its products, notably the extra virgin olive oil from the Lucca hills, pressed in Lucca and renowned for its exceptional flavor profile.

The apartments, located in three uniquely styled buildings, have been renovated in accordance with traditional aesthetics and offer independent entrances, private terraces, and fiber optic Wi-Fi to work or unwind while surrounded by nature. The stone manor house, once owned by the owner's ancestors, contains three accommodations; the Antica Capanna, formerly a carpentry workshop, now serves as a communal space for tastings and relaxation; the third building, a former municipal school, houses five apartments and the reception area.

During your stay, you can enjoy access to the indoor pool, available from June to mid-September, and book a session at the Spa, a serene area with a hot tub, steam room, and sensory showers, which can be reserved for exclusive use to ensure privacy and wellness. The first visit to the Spa is included in your stay.

The tasting room hosts a generous buffet breakfast each morning, featuring sweet and savory dishes made with farm-fresh products and local ingredients. Upon request, guided tastings of wines, cheeses, and cured meats typical of Tuscany can be arranged, led by Michela, a professional sommelier.

The surrounding area offers countless opportunities for exploration: from medieval villages like Barga, Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, and Sillico to natural wonders such as the Grotte del Vento and the Orecchiella Park. In the summer, there are significant cultural and musical events, including the Lucca Summer Festival, the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, and the famous Lucca Comics & Games.

The nearby village of Fabbriche, within walking distance, features small shops, traditional restaurants, and useful services, while a shopping center is just a few kilometers away. Cities rich in art, such as Lucca, Pisa, and Florence, are also easily accessible, making for a stay that combines relaxation, nature, and culture.
Rooms and Rates
Every morning, from 8:30 to 10:30, guests can kick off their day with a buffet breakfast served in the tasting room, a cozy setting where they can experience the authentic flavors of Garfagnana. The buffet features homemade cakes and savory dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from the farm or local producers.

Breakfast, which should be booked at least a day in advance, is personally overseen by the owner, who carefully selects the raw materials to provide a genuine and delicious experience that resonates with the surrounding environment.

Hey, I'm Michela

Michela is the owner and founder of Agriturismo Cornali, and she is the driving force behind the entire establishment. She resides permanently in one of the apartments of the Main House, just a short distance from the guest accommodations, ensuring a careful yet unobtrusive presence. With a deep passion for the land and the traditions of Garfagnana, Michela has transformed the family farm into a welcoming and sustainable venture, pursuing a project that combines hospitality, organic farming, and well-being. Her decision to convert the entire production to organic, culminating in ICEA certification, reflects her commitment to a lifestyle that respects both the environment and people. As a professional sommelier, she also welcomes guests in the tasting room, where she leads authentic culinary experiences, sharing stories about local products and promoting the work of small producers in the area. Her hospitality is warm and attentive to every detail, making everyone feel at home in a place that embodies nature, history, and human warmth.

Area Collina

The area where Agriturismo Cornali is located is a pristine corner of Garfagnana, a region nestled between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, renowned for its lush nature, charming stone villages, and a vibrant rural tradition. We are situated in Fabbriche di Vergemoli, a municipality formed from the merging of two historic mountain settlements, set in a valley crossed by the Turrite stream and surrounded by forests, chestnut groves, and scenic trails that invite leisurely exploration.

This region is perfect for those who enjoy nature walks, trekking, mountain biking, and all outdoor activities. Among the most captivating natural attractions are the Grotte del Vento, one of the most spectacular karst complexes in Europe, featuring stalactites, stalagmites, underground lakes, and crystal formations that can be visited year-round. Not far away lies the Orecchiella Park, a vast protected area inhabited by deer, mouflons, roe deer, and, with a bit of luck, even brown bears. The landscape alternates between rocky peaks, dense woods, and sunny clearings, offering breathtaking views in every season.

Culturally, the agriturismo's location allows for quick access to numerous well-preserved medieval villages, such as Barga, Castiglione di Garfagnana, Sillico, and Sassi. The cobblestone streets, quaint squares, Romanesque churches, and artisan shops make every visit feel like a journey through time. Nearby Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, the main town of the valley, is also worth a stop for its lively weekly market, the Alfieri Theatre, and the Pontecosi Lake.

Lucca, with its remarkable historic center surrounded by Renaissance walls, is less than an hour away and is perfect for a day trip filled with art, music, and Tuscan cuisine. Other easily accessible destinations for a day outing include Pisa, famous for its Leaning Tower, and Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. For those seeking the sea, the beaches of Versilia and the elegant resorts of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are just a short distance away.

During the summer months, the area comes alive with folk festivals, food fairs, and cultural events. Notable events include the Lucca Summer Festival, which brings major international music stars to the city, the Lucca Comics & Games, one of the most significant comic and gaming fairs in the world, and the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, which annually celebrates the works of the Maestro in the places where he lived and composed.

Garfagnana is an authentic destination where hospitality is still a cherished value, and the connection to the land translates into genuine flavors, slow rhythms, and landscapes that encourage taking the time to breathe.
