Nestled among the rolling hills of Val di Chiana, at the border of Tuscany and Umbria, Agriturismo La Terra offers an authentic stay immersed in a landscape shaped over centuries by the harmony between man and nature. Just a short walk from Petrignano, in a setting of vineyards, olive groves, and cultivated fields, stands an ancient farmhouse made of red bricks, which is recorded in the Leopoldine land registry dating back to the late 18th century. The farmhouse has been meticulously renovated and tastefully furnished, blending tradition with unique touches.

Ilaria and Pierpaolo, along with their children Gilla and Bernardo and their loyal four-legged companions Lilli and Zac, have chosen to live here, sharing with guests the spirit of a simple daily life rooted in the rhythms of nature. The property, inhabited by the owners themselves, welcomes guests with two independent apartments and a spacious room, as well as a small restaurant where, when available, Grandma Gina lends her expertise in the kitchen.

The location is perfect for those seeking a vacation filled with opportunities: one can set off on foot for a hike in the woods or visit art cities like Siena, Arezzo, Florence, and Perugia, or explore historic villages such as Cortona, Montepulciano, and Pienza. The thermal baths of Chianciano and Bagno Vignoni provide moments of pure relaxation, while Lake Trasimeno invites visitors to engage in water sports. Upon returning, a sunset over the countryside paired with a good glass of wine beautifully rounds off the day.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with special attention given to families with children. Cribs, high chairs, wooden toys, illustrated books, and many thoughtful touches ensure a pleasant stay for even the youngest guests, thanks to Ilaria's experience in children's publishing. Here, every guest is part of the home life, welcomed with simplicity, expertise, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Rooms and Rates
A generous breakfast buffet is freshly prepared each day, featuring a variety of bread, cakes, homemade jams, and artisanal yogurt, along with cookies, cereals, and local cheeses and cured meats. We also provide fruit juices, milk, coffee, and tea. Upon request, we can serve eggs and other delightful dishes.
In a secluded corner of the garden, surrounded by the fragrance of aromatic herbs and a view that stretches to the Castle of Valiano, Montepulciano, and the silhouette of Mount Amiata, our small restaurant stands: an independent structure that has recently been renovated, where cuisine meets the landscape in an intimate and familial atmosphere. The covered loggia offers a cozy retreat for every season, while in the summer, guests enjoy sitting on the panoramic terrace, immersed in the colors of the sunset.

In the kitchen is Pierpaolo, originally from Cagliari and a passionate cook, who transforms each dinner into an authentic and convivial experience. His cooking is based on simple, honest ingredients, carefully selected from local producers or harvested directly from our organic garden. Bread, fresh pasta, and desserts are made in-house, along with preserves, jams, extra virgin olive oil, and saffron.

Every evening we welcome you with a fixed menu that changes according to the seasons, featuring six or seven courses paired with local wines and artisanal liqueurs. The dishes celebrate Tuscan tradition, occasionally blending in elements of Sardinian cuisine, creating a surprising balance between flavors of the land and sea.

To make everything even more special, once a week the wood-fired oven is lit again for a night dedicated to pizza, fragrant and aromatic as tradition dictates. We also organize cooking classes, events, and custom ceremonies, open to those who are not staying at the agriturismo. Here, every meal becomes an opportunity to come together, share stories, and discover, bite by bite, the authentic taste of the Tuscan countryside.

Hey, I'm Pietropaolo

Welcoming you to the Agriturismo La Terra are Ilaria and Pierpaolo, along with their children Gilla and Bernardo, and their dogs Lilli and Zac. Our story is one of a family that decided to leave the city behind to live in harmony with nature, embrace its rhythms, and share the positive aspects of this lifestyle with friends and guests at the Agriturismo. Until now, we had spent our entire lives in various cities—some by the sea and others filled with skyscrapers—driven to change by the demands of the company for which Pierpaolo worked for over 15 years. This time, the motivation for change came from within us. We didn’t want to simply relocate as we had done in the past; we wanted to transform our approach to life. Our dream became a reality in 2013 with the establishment of the Agriturismo La Terra, which embodies the essence of our choice in its name: to live in harmony with nature through respect for the land and its products, and to create a peaceful and harmonious space for ourselves and our guests, where time can be enjoyed.
