The area surrounding La Valentina Nuova lies in the heart of southern Tuscany's Maremma, within the Maremma Regional Park, one of the most intact and captivating natural landscapes in central Italy. Here, nature reigns supreme, shaping the scenery with gentle hills, patches of Mediterranean scrub, ancient pine forests, and open pastures, all leading to the clear and breezy sea of Talamone, with its free beaches, rocky coves, and vibrant marine life.
Established in 1975, the Maremma Park spans over 9,000 hectares from the Uccellina Mountains to the mouth of the Ombrone River, offering an incredible variety of environments: shaded hiking trails, biking routes, and horseback riding paths, along with wild beaches and sandy dunes, coastal towers, and ancient settlements enveloped in greenery. The wildlife here is particularly rich and diverse; it's common to encounter deer, wild boars, foxes, hares, and various waterfowl and raptors freely inhabiting the area.
Just a few minutes from the agriturismo, Talamone is a seaside village with Etruscan origins, overlooking a breezy and bright gulf, perfect for activities like kitesurfing, windsurfing, and snorkeling. Its marina serves as a departure point for boat trips and fishing excursions. Strolling through the historic center, one can still feel the atmosphere of the past, with its stone alleys, houses facing the sea, and a medieval fortress that dominates the promontory.
In the surroundings, the Maremma holds significant archaeological evidence: Etruscan necropolises, Roman ruins, and Romanesque abbeys such as San Rabano hidden among the park’s woods, as well as small local museums that narrate the rural and maritime history of the region. Less than an hour away are the Saturnia hot springs, famous for their 37°C sulfurous waters, and charming villages like Magliano in Tuscany, Pitigliano, and Sovana, which captivate with their rock architecture and cultural heritage.
With its blend of nature, sea, history, and delicious food, this part of Tuscany is an ideal destination for those looking to rejuvenate in an authentic setting, away from the more crowded tourist routes, yet rich in experiences and inspiration throughout the year.
