In the heart of Chianti, just a few kilometers from San Gimignano, Agriturismo Il Castagnolino welcomes its guests in an authentic and family-oriented atmosphere where nature, delicious food, and hospitality come together for an unforgettable experience. The six rooms, featuring ancient wooden beams, terracotta floors, and traditional furnishings, blend the warmth of Tuscan tradition with modern comfort, each equipped with an independent entrance and private bathroom.

The garden, dotted with centuries-old olive trees, boasts a saltwater pool furnished with sun loungers and deck chairs, chosen not only for the well-being of guests but also for environmental sustainability. The eco-friendly philosophy is evident throughout the property, which utilizes renewable energy, natural materials, plastic-free solutions, and organic produce sourced from the farm.

The kitchen is the vibrant heart of the agriturismo. Carmela prepares sweet and savory breakfasts daily, featuring homemade cakes and cookies, and in the evenings, she offers traditional Tuscan menus. During the summer, meals are served outdoors under the panoramic loggia with views of the Valdelsa and Chianti hills, while in winter, guests gather in the cozy dining room.

For those looking to enhance their stay, there are opportunities to participate in cooking classes, botanical trails, and forest immersions among woods, vineyards, and olive groves, or to indulge in wellness moments with in-room massages and holistic treatments. Dynamic experiences such as e-bike excursions to discover the artistic and natural beauty of the area are also available.

Situated along the Via Francigena, halfway between Siena, Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Volterra, Il Castagnolino serves as an ideal starting point for exploring Tuscany’s most famous art cities while still enjoying the tranquility and peace of the countryside. Carmela, Lara, and their team warmly welcome each guest with sincerity and passion, transforming their stay into an authentic immersion in Tuscan lifestyle.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast at Castagnolino is designed to provide a genuine and enjoyable start to the day, accompanied by the scents and flavors of the Tuscan countryside. Each morning, guests are greeted with cakes and cookies made by Carmela, along with fresh bread, homemade jams, yogurt, seasonal fruit, and a selection of savory products such as local cheeses and cured meats. This variety caters to those who love to begin their day with something sweet as well as those who prefer heartier flavors. During the warmer months, breakfast is served outdoors, offering a charming view of the Chianti hills and making each morning a special moment of relaxation and authenticity.
The restaurant at Agriturismo Il Castagnolino offers a journey through the authentic flavors of Tuscany, featuring menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and highlight the organic products from the farm and local producers. Every evening, Carmela prepares traditional dishes, often using homemade fresh pasta, complemented by vegetables from the garden and their own extra virgin olive oil.

During the summer, diners enjoy their meals on the panoramic porch overlooking the Valdelsa valley and the Chianti hills, while in the cooler seasons, guests gather in the cozy, intimate indoor dining area. The menu consists of a fixed four-course meal – appetizer, first course, main course with a side dish, and dessert – along with a carefully chosen selection of local wines. This experience blends taste, tradition, and togetherness in an authentically Tuscan atmosphere.

Hey, I'm Carmela

Il Castagnolino is passionately run by Carmela and Lara, who, along with their team, warmly welcome guests and pay close attention to every detail. Carmela is in charge of the kitchen, preparing traditional dishes and homemade breakfasts each day, while Lara manages the organization of activities and hospitality. Assisting them are Eleonora and Anki, who take care of the rooms and breakfast, and Andrea, who works in the fields and garden. This teamwork creates an authentic, family-friendly agriturismo that prioritizes the well-being of its guests.
