The Casa della Guia is located in Querce, within the territory of Fucecchio, surrounded by a peaceful and genuine Tuscan countryside, amidst woods, country roads, and landscapes that encourage slowing down. This area is particularly suited for those who love nature, walking, and small historic towns, as well as for those seeking a convenient base to explore some of the region’s most beautiful cities.
About one kilometer from the house lies the route of the Via Francigena near Galleno. From here, you can follow enchanting walking trails through the forest and continue towards Ponte a Cappiano, featuring the characteristic Medici bridge, then on to the countryside leading to Fucecchio and, beyond the Arno River, to San Miniato. This territory is ideal for trekking, horseback riding, and spending days outdoors.
Among the main natural attractions in the area stands the Padule di Fucecchio, one of the most important wetlands in Tuscany. Canals, water surfaces, marsh vegetation, and numerous bird species characterize an environment of great scenic and natural interest, which also preserves traces of local history and the ancient relationship between inhabitants and waterways. By reservation, it is possible to experience the Padule through special boat tours.
Nearby, you will find villages, ancient churches, historic villas, farms, and small producers where you can discover wines, olive oil, cured meats, cheeses, and other Tuscan traditional specialties. Markets, festivals, and village fairs also allow you to connect with a more authentic side of the area, away from the busiest tourist circuits.
The location is also convenient for organizing day trips to major art cities. Lucca is reachable in about 20 minutes by car, while Florence and Pisa are approximately 40 minutes away. Pistoia, Montecatini Terme, San Miniato, and many villages in central Tuscany are also easily accessible, while the coast can be reached in about 45 minutes.
Staying in Querce thus allows you to alternate days of complete relaxation in the countryside with cultural excursions, nature trails, and food and wine experiences, taking advantage of a central location to leisurely discover many of the most distinctive aspects of Tuscany.
