Simba's House is situated in the Montecaselli area, in the countryside surrounding Piombino, offering a location that allows guests to enjoy the peace of nature while also being conveniently close to the sea and the main destinations along the Etruscan Coast. This area is especially ideal for those who want to alternate between beach days, nature excursions, cultural visits, and walks through Tuscan villages.
The coastline is approximately 2.5 km away and provides various options for spending a day at the beach. Traveling along the coast, visitors can discover beaches, stretches of Mediterranean scrubland, and scenic views typical of this part of Tuscany. One of the most famous spots is the Gulf of Baratti, a charming cove located at the base of the Populonia promontory, where the marine landscape is intertwined with an ancient history.
Baratti and Populonia are among the most distinctive features of the area. The Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia offers insight into the region’s significant Etruscan past through necropolises, archaeological remains, and nature trails. Heading up to Populonia, you reach the small historic village perched on a panoramic promontory, surrounded by views that stretch over both the sea and the countryside.
Piombino is just a few minutes away and is worth exploring beyond its role as a port town. The historic center features squares, narrow streets, and buildings that reflect the city’s diverse historical periods, while coastal walks provide expansive views of the sea and the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. From the port, regular connections to Elba Island are available, making it easy to plan a day trip during your stay.
The location is also great for exploring the inland areas of the Val di Cornia. Campiglia Marittima, with its quaint historic center nestled on a hill, is one of the most enjoyable nearby destinations. Continuing through the territory, you will encounter countryside, hills, and small towns that reveal a different side of Tuscany beyond the coastal experience.
Nature lovers can enjoy walks and hikes through the coastal scenery and green inland areas, while those seeking a more active holiday can use Piombino as a base to explore a new destination each day. Here, the sea, archaeology, villages, and nature come together within a relatively compact and easily accessible area.
Although located in a rural setting, Simba's House is not isolated from essential amenities for a comfortable stay: a supermarket and a bus stop are within walking distance. This area thus offers a good balance between tranquility and convenience, making it suitable for both short visits and longer stays dedicated to exploring Piombino, the Etruscan Coast, and the Val di Cornia.
