The Pieve dei Preti is an ancient farmhouse located in the striking crete senesi landscape, positioned on the summit of a hill with panoramic views. The surrounding scenery offers an extraordinary vista that stretches from Monte Amiata to the Chianti hills, and from the peaks of the Casentino mountains to the nearby medieval village of Serre di Rapolano.

The building retains traces of the various eras it has experienced: some sections date back to the 12th century, while others were added in the 19th and 20th centuries. Its history is tied to the Church, which acquired it as a bequest between the 14th and 15th centuries and maintained ownership until the late 20th century. In 1997, the Pieve was purchased with the intention of undertaking a thoughtful restoration process, guided by principles of sustainable building and energy conservation, in addition to the production of organic products for family use.

The farmhouse has been renovated using natural materials such as cork, Roman lime, earth-based dyes, and natural oils, with electrical systems featuring shielded cables. Energy efficiency is ensured through the use of solar panels and a wall heating system.

Accommodation is provided in a cozy studio apartment of approximately 42 square meters, converted from an old shed, where the authentic atmosphere of the place has been preserved. Rates range from 60 to 90 euros per night for two guests, depending on the season, and include access to the kitchen, utilities for electricity, water, and gas, linens, access to the swimming pool, a garden table, covered parking, and final cleaning. Heating costs are calculated separately.

Area Crete Senesi

Arriving from Siena along the picturesque Lauretana Antica road, one of the most enchanting routes in the Crete Senesi, you will reach Asciano. Continue through the town and follow the signs for Rapolano Terme; after approximately 300 meters (uphill), you will come across a railway crossing. Proceed for another 500 meters until you reach an intersection where you will need to turn left toward Rapolano Terme.

Travel for about 600 meters, keeping an eye on your left for a small, modern church with a travertine facade. Before you reach the church, turn left onto a dirt road marked as the road to Pieve dei Preti.

As you continue along this dirt road, after about 1 kilometer, you will encounter a large estate called La Casella. Here, you should turn right and continue for approximately 500 meters. Welcome to Pieve dei Preti!

If you are coming from Rapolano Terme or Serre di Rapolano (via the four-lane Siena-Bettolle road), follow the signs to Asciano, which is 9 kilometers from Rapolano and 5 kilometers from Serre.

Once you pass the sign marking the entrance to Asciano, you will find an IP gas station on your left and a bar and dance venue called "Le Piramidi" on your right. After 10 meters, on the right, you will see the small church mentioned earlier. From this point onward, follow the previously described directions.
