The B&B Pietra d’Acqua is nestled in the woods of Monte Pisano, situated in a small valley crossed by a river, between the provinces of Pisa and Lucca. This location offers a genuine natural setting, characterized by chestnut groves, trails, and views that showcase the quieter and wilder side of Tuscany. Here, nature takes center stage: the forest surrounding the house is home to wildlife and provides a tranquil environment, perfect for those looking to slow down and experience a stay closely connected to the landscape.
Just a few kilometers away is the village of Buti, accessible via a 3 km road, a small Tuscan town that still retains the charm of hillside villages. Its streets, quaint squares, and stone houses reflect a long agricultural and artisanal tradition, while the surrounding area is dotted with olive groves and forests that define the entire Monte Pisano region.
This area is particularly favored by outdoor enthusiasts. Monte Serra, the highest peak of Monte Pisano, offers numerous trails for trekking and hiking, with paths that weave through chestnut woods and scenic viewpoints that, on clear days, allow for views stretching to the plain and the sea. The region is also popular with rock climbing enthusiasts, thanks to the presence of natural cliffs, as well as those who simply wish to stroll in nature.
The location of the B&B is also strategic for visiting some of the most captivating cities in Tuscany. Pisa is about 26 km away and can be easily reached for a day of exploring the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, home to the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, and the Baptistery. Lucca is approximately 25 km away and is known for its impressive Renaissance walls that encircle the historic center, which can now be walked or cycled around.
From Pietra d’Acqua, it’s possible to organize excursions to other culturally and scenically significant destinations like Volterra, an ancient Etruscan city rich in history, or Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo, set amidst the hills of Montalbano.
The area is also convenient for air travelers due to its relative proximity to Pisa International Airport, making it easy to reach the B&B while enjoying a peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This balance between nature, quaint villages, and major art centers makes the Monte Pisano region an ideal base for experiencing Tuscany authentically.
