In the authentic heart of Maremma, nestled among the hills that overlook the landscape between Manciano and Capalbio, lies the Poggio Foco Farm, an organic agricultural estate spanning over 450 hectares. Established in 1977 to fulfill a family dream, it is now a place where nature takes center stage, where the tranquility of the countryside blends with the slow pulse of the land, and time seems to follow ancient rhythms.

Guests are welcomed into seven comfortable apartments located in five stone farmhouses, furnished with antique furniture and equipped with a full kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, a private terrace, and all the necessary amenities for an independent stay. Amenities include Wi-Fi, TV, heating, ceiling fans, laundry facilities, and covered parking. A welcome basket with breakfast items, firewood for the fireplace, bi-weekly linen changes, and access to the panoramic swimming pool from May to October enhance the experience.

The pool, heated by solar panels and surrounded by greenery, offers views that stretch over vineyards to the sea. Those seeking relaxation can take advantage of partnerships with the Saturnia and Sorano Spas, while outdoor enthusiasts will find trekking routes and mountain biking trails nestled within the Mediterranean scrub. There is also a dedicated play area for children.

The farm's restaurant, open seasonally by reservation, serves authentic Maremma cuisine made from organic products sourced from the estate: garden vegetables, fine meats, and extra virgin olive oil. Before dinner, served in a charming stone hall by candlelight, guests can enjoy an aperitif featuring house wines in the cozy wine cellar.

In addition to hospitality, Poggio Foco offers an agricultural experience: wine and organic olive oil are produced, durum wheat, oats, and barley are cultivated, and Maremma cows, dairy sheep, and wild boars are raised. Daily life includes direct contact with nature, thanks to guided tours of the farm and close encounters with the animals.

Its strategic location, just a short distance from Mount Amiata, the Argentario coast, and the beaches of Capalbio and Ansedonia, makes Poggio Foco the perfect starting point for exploring the wonders of Maremma, Tuscany, Lazio, and Umbria. From horseback riding and Vespa excursions to mini cruises and stargazing evenings, every stay transforms into a unique journey, marked by the serene rhythm of nature and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Rooms and Rates
The establishment does not provide a breakfast service; however, guests will find a welcome basket filled with selected items upon arrival to kick off their stay independently. Each apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, perfect for managing meals at their own pace and enjoying a vacation immersed in the tranquility of the Maremma countryside.
The restaurant at Poggio Foco Farm is exclusively for guests and is open during the season or upon request, provided a minimum number of participants is met. It offers a fixed menu inspired by Maremma traditions, prepared with organic ingredients sourced from the farm: seasonal vegetables, selected meats, and extra virgin olive oil. Before dinner, served in the ancient stone hall by candlelight, guests can enjoy an aperitif in the farm's wine cellar, accompanied by locally produced wines. Vegetarian dishes are also available upon request. Reservations are required.

Area Campagna

Poggio Foco Farm is located in one of the most picturesque regions of southern Tuscany, right in the heart of Maremma, straddling the municipalities of Manciano and Capalbio. This rural area, still genuine and sparsely populated, is characterized by its rugged and tranquil beauty, featuring rolling hills, Mediterranean scrub, ancient woodlands, and fields cultivated using traditional methods.

From the property, there are breathtaking views stretching from the profile of Mount Amiata to the Tyrrhenian Sea, encompassing the Argentario, the Island of Giglio, and, on clearer days, Montecristo. The climate is mild and breezy, making it perfect for spending time outdoors amidst nature and culture.

Just a few minutes away are the Saturnia Thermal Baths, renowned for their continuously flowing sulfuric waters at 37.5°C, which offer rejuvenating benefits. In addition to the equipped thermal park, the area also features the famous "Cascatelle del Mulino," which can be accessed for free. Nearby, you’ll find the Sorano Thermal Baths, nestled in a park surrounded by woods and tuff, where one can enjoy a more intimate wellness experience.

For beach lovers, the shores of Capalbio, Ansedonia, and Feniglia can be reached in under half an hour. These wild, sandy, and pristine coastal stretches are perfect for those seeking nature and tranquility by the sea. The surrounding villages are treasures of history and identity: Pitigliano, known as "Little Jerusalem," Sovana, and Sorano offer untouched medieval vistas, stone alleys, Etruscan necropolises, and rock churches.

This region is also ideal for sports enthusiasts and outdoor activities, offering horseback riding through the Maremma scrub, mountain biking along ancient trails, trekking routes with panoramic views, and golf at the renowned courses of Saturnia or Argentario.

This part of Maremma retains a strong identity, characterized by silence, authentic scents, and flavors. It is a place that encourages slowing down, listening to the landscape, and reconnecting deeply with nature and oneself. With its commanding position, Poggio Foco serves as a prime starting point for discovering the truest Tuscany, as well as conveniently exploring the wonders of Lazio and Umbria.
