Area Collina

The Fornacelle Estate is situated in one of the most enchanting areas of Tuscany, on the hills that connect San Gimignano and Certaldo. The landscape here is characteristic of the Sienese countryside, featuring gentle slopes adorned with vineyards and olive groves, country roads lined with cypress trees, and views that reveal medieval towers and well-preserved small villages.

San Gimignano, located just 6 km away, is renowned worldwide as the "Manhattan of the Middle Ages" due to its towers that still dominate the skyline. Strolling through its streets, you will encounter churches, squares, and palaces that narrate centuries of history, as well as artisan shops and restaurants where you can savor local cuisine paired with a glass of Vernaccia.

Certaldo, only 4 km away, is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio. The upper village retains its medieval structure, complete with walls, brick houses, and narrow alleys leading to the home of the famous author of the Decameron. In the lower village, you will find the train station, along with services and shops that cater to visitors.

A short drive takes you to Poggibonsi, a strategic hub for traveling to Siena and Florence. Siena, with its Piazza del Campo and Cathedral, is about a half-hour away, while Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, can be reached in under an hour.

This area is also ideal for nature lovers and outdoor activities: from walks among the vineyards to cycling excursions, horseback riding trails, and gastronomic tours in local wineries. Additionally, there are excellent restaurants and trattorias nearby where you can enjoy traditional Tuscan dishes such as ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, Florentine steak, and cured meats, all accompanied by renowned wines like Chianti Colli Senesi.
