The area surrounding the Casale in the Park, just one kilometer from Norcia, is a true treasure trove of natural beauty, ancient history, and deep-rooted traditions. We are located in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains National Park, one of the most captivating protected areas in the central Apennines, where nature thrives in all its strength and diversity. Beech forests, high pastures, deep gorges, suspended plateaus, and majestic peaks frame a landscape that remains untouched and rich in biodiversity.
Norcia, renowned worldwide for its traditional products and as the birthplace of Saint Benedict, boasts a historic center of great value, filled with religious and civil buildings that tell centuries of history. From here, ancient pastoral trails and paths related to spirituality branch out, such as the one through the Castoriana Valley, dotted with abbeys and hermitages nestled in the greenery. Among the most enchanting sites are the Abbey of Sant’Eutizio, the village of Preci, the Castellina, and the Madonna Bianca of Ancarano.
The Park offers over 450 km of roads and trails that can be explored on foot, by bike, on horseback, or even by car and motorcycle, passing through secluded environments where encountering wildlife and breathtaking views is not uncommon. Popular hikes include the ascent of Monte Vettore, a visit to the Castelluccio plains known for their famous spring bloom, Lake Pilato – the only glacial lake in the Apennines – and Monte Sibilla, shrouded in legends and mysteries.
Throughout the year, the region also offers experiences related to gastronomy and craftsmanship: from the collection of prized black truffles to the discovery of saffron, from local festivals to markets showcasing regional products. Just 60 km away, through the tunnel connecting Umbria to the Marche region, one can also reach the Adriatic Sea for a day by the coast. The variety of landscapes and experiences makes this area ideal for those seeking a deep connection with nature as well as for those looking to rejuvenate in the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings.
