Nestled in the tranquility of the Umbrian countryside, the Valle B&B is located along the picturesque stretch of the Franciscan Via Francigena that connects Pietralunga to Gubbio. The establishment sits atop a hill that once housed the ancient Roman Castrum Vallis, preserving its charm and historical significance. The building, dating back to the early Middle Ages, has been recently restored by its owners, who have skillfully enhanced its authenticity while incorporating modern comforts.

Surrounded by a rustic garden with pathways winding through an oak and broom forest and an ancient olive grove, the B&B offers guests breathtaking views of the Assino valley and the enchanting medieval church of San Giovanni Battista di Loreto. Its location is also perfect for those looking to explore Monte Cucco and Monte Catria, ideal destinations for hiking and cycling.

The apartment consists of three rooms, each with a private bathroom and views of the surrounding landscape, the internal courtyard, or the scenic overlook. Guests have access to a private entrance and can conveniently park at the end of the garden. During their stay, they can enjoy the common areas and garden independently, although the owner is happy to engage in conversation when available.

The Valle B&B is a peaceful retreat where the silence is only broken by the chirping of crickets and, on warmer days, the sound of cicadas. It is an authentic place where history, nature, and hospitality blend harmoniously.

Hey, I'm Annalisa

My name is Anna Lisa Santolin, and together with my husband, I am the owner of Palazzo Valle and the surrounding land. This historic residence, which we affectionately used to call "the ruin," has been both a challenge and a dream for us: at the end of the last century, we decided to completely restore it, bringing back its life and dignity. With the support and enthusiasm of our children and grandchildren, I personally oversaw the design and creation of the garden that now surrounds the house, a space intended to harmoniously complement the landscape and the structure. Since the palace was too large for our family needs, we chose to dedicate part of it to hospitality, thereby creating the Valle B&B. In recent years, we have expanded our offerings with a few small apartments designed for those who wish to immerse themselves in the tranquility of the area, surrounded by greenery and unspoiled nature. Every choice, from the renovation to the furnishings, has stemmed from a desire to share the beauty and serenity of this corner of Umbria.

Area Collina

The residence is situated in a prime location, surrounded by greenery while overlooking the landscape below, providing stunning views and an overwhelming sense of tranquility. The surrounding area is characterized by lush nature, filled with forests, valleys, and trails that weave through hills and castles, making it perfect for those who enjoy walking or simply wish to be amazed by the authentic beauty of Umbria. Just a few minutes' walk from the property, one can find breathtaking vistas, with paths suitable for hikers of all skill levels.

Despite the serene and secluded setting, getting around is easy: the historic center of Gubbio can be reached by car, bike, or even by bus from the nearby village of Mocaiana. The surroundings are ideal for exploration by personal vehicle, but also by bike or on foot for those looking to enjoy a slower, more immersive experience in direct contact with nature and the local environment.
