Located at an altitude of 1,338 meters, Brusson is a well-known tourist destination, celebrated for its mild and welcoming climate, making it perfect for families. The area, dotted with springs and lakes, provides an ideal setting for delightful strolls. In the small hamlet of Estoul, situated at 1,850 meters above sea level, you will find the guesthouse A Barma Drola, nestled in a broad basin of pastures and pine forests, offering views of the majestic Graines Castle.
The name Brusson is believed to originate from “Bruxeum,” a Latin term referring to gold mines found in the vicinity of the Frudière Lakes, which were exploited since the time of the Salassi. However, the roots of the settlement date back to Roman times. The Graines Castle, built around the 10th century by the Abbey of Saint-Maurice d'Agaune and later transferred to the Challant family in 1200, towers over the village. Just a 10-minute drive from the Bed & Breakfast, you can explore the remarkable Chamousira mines.
In winter, Brusson transforms into a paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, featuring over 30 kilometers of trails and a Foyer de Fond equipped with all necessary amenities for skiers, which also hosts significant international competitions. From Brusson, it is easy to reach the village of Estoul, located at the foot of Mount Bieteron, where downhill slopes wind through charming larch forests, leading up to Punta Palasina, an ideal spot for ski mountaineering enthusiasts as well.
