In the serene hills of Bologna, within an ancient medieval tower house that has been in the same family for generations, lies the agriturismo Ca’ Bertù. The careful and respectful restoration of this structure, a typical example of Comacini architecture, has breathed new life into a building that now welcomes guests in an authentic and enchanting environment, surrounded by nature.

The property features two apartments and four rooms, each with unique characteristics to cater to various needs. There is a single room with a private bathroom located on the ground floor, making it accessible for guests with reduced mobility. The spacious and well-organized apartments offer independent stays with views of the hilly landscape, a cozy sitting area, and bright, airy spaces. In the morning, a hearty breakfast is served under the porch, featuring a variety of sweet and savory options, including cakes, jams, fresh bread, yogurt, cured meats, cheeses, and eggs.

The agriturismo is surrounded by a 70-hectare estate, comprising woodlands, arable land, and vineyards. From here, ideal paths for hiking or biking wind through tranquil hills populated by deer, squirrels, and birds of prey. Nearby, you can find some of the most charming medieval villages in Emilia, such as Castello di Serravalle, Monteveglio, and Bazzano, often lively with local festivals and traditional markets.

The location is perfect for exploring the area: Bologna and Modena are about a thirty-minute drive away, while Parma, Ferrara, Ravenna, Mantova, and even Florence are accessible within one to two hours of travel. In the vicinity, restaurants and trattorias serve traditional Emilia cuisine, enhancing the overall experience. Just a few kilometers away, there is also a modern golf course and a summer pool for those who wish to combine relaxation with outdoor activities.

Elisabetta, an agronomist and the host, warmly welcomes guests with passion, sharing the beauty of this corner of the Emilian Apennines that holds history, nature, and authenticity.

Area Collina

The area where Ca’ Bertù is located is a particularly enchanting part of Emilia-Romagna, nestled in the hills of the Samoggia Valley at an altitude of about 250 meters. The landscape features a harmonious blend of vineyards, arable land, forests, and gentle hills, offering panoramic views and a refreshing tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

This region of the Bologna province is dotted with small medieval villages, with notable ones including Castello di Serravalle, Monteveglio, and Bazzano. Each village tells a story filled with castles, Romanesque churches, ancient walls, and peasant traditions that are still celebrated in local festivals and fairs dedicated to regional products. Monteveglio, in particular, is famous for the Regional Park of the Abbey, a protected area where nature and spirituality intersect.

The area also serves as a strategic point for visiting art cities like Bologna and Modena, which are about a 30-minute drive away, as well as other cultural and culinary destinations such as Ferrara, Ravenna, Parma, Mantova, and even Florence, all within a reasonable distance. The region is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts: hiking trails, cycling paths, and wooded areas provide opportunities for direct experiences with nature, often enhanced by encounters with local wildlife such as fawns, hares, buzzards, and squirrels.

Completing the experience are numerous trattorias and restaurants where visitors can savor traditional Emilia cuisine in an authentic and friendly environment. Nearby, there are also leisure facilities, including a golf course and a summer pool, which make the stay even more diverse and enjoyable.
