In the heart of an ancient village in the Reggiano Apennines, where time seems to slow down and silence becomes a travel companion, lies the Inn Under the Moon, a historic manor house from the late Middle Ages that has preserved its original features. Within its walls steeped in history, each room welcomes visitors with the genuine atmosphere of a bygone era, characterized by original furnishings, antique beds, and a cozy warmth, perfectly balancing rustic simplicity with aristocratic legacy.

The three spacious and comfortable rooms can accommodate up to seven guests and are equipped with an exclusive adjoining bathroom. The hospitality is familial, discreet, and sincere, much like the story of those who have chosen to share this space with those who appreciate the essence of authentic places. The house, which has belonged to generations of women from the same family, has been revitalized through careful restoration that honors the materials and spirit of the site.

The large kitchen, featuring a centuries-old fireplace, serves as the heart of the home: here, the scent of wood-fired bread, polenta in a copper pot, and the clinking of dishes still tell the tale of life as it once was. Breakfast is a ritual of true flavors, offering honey sourced from just up the hill, bread baked in the oven of a nearby village, homemade jams made from organic fruit, and fresh eggs from free-range chickens.

Surrounding the inn, the village of San Polo retains all the charm of rural architecture in the Apennines. Tower houses, dovecotes, votive frescoes, and ancient cobblestone paths intertwine with 18th-century agricultural buildings and scenes where nature remains a prominent feature. The Inn Under the Moon invites guests to slow down, to reconnect with the rhythm of the seasons, and to rediscover the harmony between sky and earth, between the sun and the moon.

Each product tells a story of authenticity and tradition, offering a morning that nourishes both body and soul.

Area Collina

San Polo is a small gem nestled in the rolling hills of the Reggio Emilia Apennines, a place that gracefully preserves the historical and landscape identity of an ancient land. This village, once known as "Cà de Grassi in San Polo," developed around the remnants of a chapel dedicated to San Pauli, on the foundations of which the current Town Hall now stands. Every corner carries the mark of the past: from the noble houses to the medieval towers, from the 18th-century rural buildings to the cobblestone paths, everything speaks the language of a living and cherished memory.

The local architecture is harmoniously integrated into the hilly landscape, serving as a rare example of the blend between nature and the built environment. Meadows alternate with woodlands, stone walls engage with grassy paths, and votive niches emerge like small treasures of folk art. One of the oldest towers overlooks the road that once connected the village to the castle of Viano, still retaining a dovecote and a fresco of the Virgin with Child and Saint Anthony, framed by the heraldic emblem of the patron.

The area is enveloped in deep silence, far from traffic and the hectic pace of cities, yet close enough to provide all the conveniences. Strolling here means getting lost among timeless glimpses, within the soft hues of the landscape and the indelible traces of those who have inhabited these places over the centuries. It is an ideal setting for those seeking tranquility, authenticity, and a genuine connection with history and nature.
