The area where Agriturismo Ca’ Igi is located is one of the most enchanting spots in Western Liguria, nestled between the hilly inland and the sea of the Riviera dei Fiori. The village, once a feudal dependency of the nearby castle — the “Castellarium,” known locally as “Kastelà” — retains the distinctive features of medieval settlements, with its characteristic narrow streets weaving between stone houses, scenic views, and ancient silences.
Situated at an altitude of 277 meters, the village rests on the ridge of a hill overlooking the Valle Argentina, providing a wide and captivating view that extends to the sea on clear days. This region, famous for its Taggiasca olive cultivation, is a bountiful land, fragrant with aromatic herbs and crisscrossed by paths that meander through cultivated terraces, forests, and streams. Walking or cycling in these areas allows one to embrace the slow rhythm of nature, observe Mediterranean biodiversity, and encounter ancient rural churches, stone bridges, and remnants of the historical agricultural landscape.
Just a short drive away are the beaches of Arma di Taggia and the elegant streets of Sanremo, known for its music and flowers, but also a cultural treasure trove, featuring its Art Nouveau casino, the Ariston theater, and gardens overlooking the sea. The coastal pedestrian and cycling path, stretching 40 kilometers, connects numerous seaside villages, offering a unique experience amidst the coastal landscape.
From here, one can easily explore the more authentic Ligurian inland: from Taggia with its medieval historic center to the artistic alleys of Bussana Vecchia, revitalized by the creativity of an international community. Heading northwest, the Valle delle Meraviglie houses prehistoric rock engravings in a setting of rare natural beauty, while to the east, roads lead to the Principality of Monaco, Monte Carlo, and the French Riviera. In the colder seasons, it is also possible to reach the ski slopes of Limone Piemonte in a short time.
This stretch of Liguria, nestled between the coast and the mountains, offers a travel experience rich in inspiration, ideal for those seeking authenticity, nature, and the opportunity to blend relaxation with cultural excursions and outdoor activities.
