The village of Castè is situated in the inland region of Liguria, just a few kilometers from La Spezia, nestled among green hills and overlooking the Cinque Terre National Park. This tiny medieval town, dating back to the 15th century, is a genuine sanctuary of tranquility, where time seems to have stood still. The narrow cobblestone streets, stone houses, and the peaceful surroundings make it an ideal destination for those looking to escape mass tourism and experience the more authentic and intimate side of Liguria.
Its strategic location allows for quick access to the famous Cinque Terre – Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore – via train from the La Spezia station, by boat connecting the coastal towns, or for hiking enthusiasts, along the trail 01 that winds through the village and traverses forests with breathtaking views. Driving is not recommended for visiting the Cinque Terre villages, but it is essential for traveling between Castè and La Spezia.
Additionally, Castè is perfectly positioned for exploring the entire Levante Riviera. From here, it's easy to make day trips to destinations like Lerici, Portovenere, San Terenzo, Fiascherino, and Tellaro, charming gems scattered throughout the Gulf of La Spezia. The highway opens routes to coastal resorts in Versilia, such as Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, or continues along the Ligurian coast to Sestri Levante, Chiavari, Santa Margherita Ligure, and Portofino.
Art cities are also nearby: Pisa, Lucca, and Florence can be conveniently reached by car or train, offering a perfect balance of sea, nature, and culture. Therefore, Castè serves as an ideal base for exploring Liguria and the neighboring regions, allowing one to enjoy the silence and authenticity of a small village timelessly every evening.
