Area Campagna

Gemonio is situated in a prime location within the province of Varese, surrounded by the peaceful countryside and at the foot of the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park. This quaint village, rich in history and traditions, serves as an excellent starting point for exploring both the natural beauty and the artistic and cultural heritage of the area.

The town center features points of interest such as the Church of San Pietro, which dates back to the medieval period and is adorned with frescoes, and the Bodini Museum, dedicated to the sculptor Floriano Bodini, showcasing captivating artworks and sculptures. Nearby, you can also find the Salvini Museum in Cocquio Trevisago, located in an ancient water mill that is still operational.

Not far away, Lake Maggiore offers breathtaking views and numerous charming locations to visit, including Laveno Mombello, Angera with its fortress, Arona, Stresa, and the famous Borromean Islands. Also close by is the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, perched dramatically over the lake, providing a unique atmosphere and stunning vistas.

Nature enthusiasts can explore the trails of Campo dei Fiori Park, which offer paths suitable for all skill levels, including one that leads to the Forte di Orino, one of the most scenic viewpoints in the area. For those who prefer cycling, routes are available such as the loop around Lake Varese or Lake Comabbio.

The region is also home to historic villas and gardens, such as Villa della Porta Bozzolo, a beautiful residence with an Italian-style garden, and the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto in Verbania. In under an hour's drive, you can also reach internationally renowned cities and destinations like Lugano, Como, Locarno, and Bellinzona.

In addition to nature and culture, there are plenty of culinary experiences to enjoy: restaurants and trattorias serve traditional Lombard dishes and lake specialties, paired with excellent local wines, making every visit a complete and authentic experience.
