The agriturismo La Ginestra is located in Cercemaggiore, in the heart of central Molise, surrounded by the lush nature of the Tammaro Valley. This hilly area, situated at about 700 meters above sea level, offers expansive views that stretch to the Matese mountains and the surrounding Apennine ranges, providing a pleasantly cool climate in summer and enchanting atmospheres in winter.
The location is perfect for those who enjoy exploring the history and traditions of Molise. Just a few minutes away is the archaeological site of Altilia (Sepino), featuring the well-preserved Roman forum and theater. The WWF Oasis of Guardiaregia-Campochiaro invites visitors to discover forests, waterfalls, and nature trails rich in biodiversity. Nearby medieval villages, such as Agnone, known for its bells and copper craftsmanship, and Riccia, with its picturesque historical center, are also worth a visit.
The area boasts numerous trekking and hiking trails that lead through castles, hermitages, and ancient churches, ultimately reaching Monte Saraceno, which towers over the valley at 1,100 meters. About half an hour's drive away are Campitello Matese, a popular destination for winter sports and summer walks, and Benevento, a city rich in Lombard and Roman heritage.
This region is also home to a strong culinary tradition: cheeses, cured meats, ancient grain pasta, and grilled meats embody the essence of Molise cuisine, often paired with local wines like Tintilia. Those who stay here have the opportunity to experience an authentic and less touristy Molise, filled with unspoiled landscapes, quiet villages, and genuine hospitality.
