At the foot of the rugged Corni di Nibbio, a natural gateway between the Val d’Ossola and Valgrande, stands an old 19th-century farmhouse, now transformed into a welcoming accommodation. The B&B I Corni di Nibbio takes its name from the mountain that looms above it and is located in the small village of Nibbio in the Mergozzo area, less than a kilometer from the highway exit and just a few minutes from the historic center and the lake of the same name, known for its clear waters and unspoiled landscape.

Carefully and passionately renovated, the B&B retains the original charm of the historic home: exposed oak beams, handcrafted restored solid wood furnishings, warm colors, and the tranquility of an authentic environment make every stay an immersive experience. Guests can choose to start their day with a wholesome breakfast in the cozy “Proman” room with a fireplace or outdoors under the pergolas in the garden, surrounded by vines and mountain views. Upon request, a gluten-free breakfast option is available.

Enhancing the stay is the pool, nestled in nature and perfect for relaxation, along with a well-equipped garden where children can play safely. During warm summer evenings, sharing a glass of local wine outdoors evokes a sense of suspended time, far from the hustle and bustle.

Elenia, with extensive experience in the tourism sector, personally manages the hospitality and prepares jams and sweets using local ingredients. Patrizio, a blacksmith, has lovingly restored the home with patience and dedication. Rounding out the family atmosphere is Giorgia, the youngest member, a loving mascot attentive to every guest.

The rooms, each with its own character, tell the story of the house: no mass-produced furniture, just unique pieces brought back to life. Small pet dogs are welcome upon request, depending on the availability of the dedicated room.

The location of the B&B is ideal for exploring an extraordinarily rich area. Mergozzo is a village overlooking a swimmable lake, one of the cleanest in Europe, from which trails, bike paths, and mule tracks lead to nearby hamlets. In just a few minutes, one can reach Lake Maggiore with the Borromean Islands, Lake Orta, and the Island of San Giulio. The Valgrande National Park, Monte Rosa, the thermal baths of Premia, and the Toce Waterfall are also within close proximity.

Sports and adventure enthusiasts will find numerous activities in the area: trekking, cycling, rock climbing, swimming, sailing, canoeing, and kayaking. The nearby Aquadventure Park offers fun for all ages, while those seeking thrilling experiences can try the Alpyland toboggan on Mottarone. Nearby, there are four golf courses available for enthusiasts.

For those wanting to discover culinary delights, the region boasts a rich food and wine tradition. From contemporary pizza at Taverna Sass with lake views to the typical flavors of the trattoria Il Risottino, and the selection of over a hundred craft beers at Birreria Freelance, each offering reflects a deep connection to the land.

Amidst mountains, lakes, and genuine hospitality, the B&B I Corni di Nibbio is a place to rediscover the joy of slow living, surrounded by nature, tradition, and sincere welcome.
Rooms and Rates
Every morning, between 8:30 and 10:00, guests can kick off their day with a hearty and authentic breakfast served buffet-style under the trellises in the courtyard, surrounded by the scents of the garden, or in the cozy atmosphere of the “Proman” lounge, enhanced by a warm fireplace during the colder seasons.

Freshly squeezed juices made from Sicilian citrus fruits and smoothies prepared with seasonal fruit from our orchard introduce a refreshing and generous variety of sweet and savory offerings. Homemade jams, locally sourced honey, Novi cream, Nutella, and various types of chocolate are available to enjoy with freshly baked bread or a slice of our cakes, made daily with simple, local ingredients. To make it even more special, we also serve fugascina, a traditional sweet from Mergozzo, prepared according to an ancient family recipe.

For those who prefer savory options, the breakfast spread includes cold cuts and cheeses from the Ossola valleys—cow, sheep, and goat varieties—carefully sourced from small producers, along with mountain butter, fresh eggs from our hens prepared in various ways, and an assortment of crusty bread.

The selection is rounded out with yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit salad, and dried or dehydrated fruits. Hot beverages range from caffellatte to cappuccino, chocolate to Nesquik, all made with fresh milk, in addition to espresso coffee, a selection of teas, and herbal infusions. Both still and sparkling water are always available.

Upon request and with prior notice, we can prepare a breakfast specifically for gluten-free guests. The timing can be adjusted earlier or later based on preferences, ensuring a great start to each vacation day.

Area Campagna

The area surrounding the B&B I Corni di Nibbio is a tapestry of remarkable landscapes, where nature, history, and culture blend seamlessly. Located in Nibbio, a district of the municipality of Mergozzo, we are on the edge of Valgrande, Italy's largest wilderness area, and just minutes away from Lake Mergozzo, one of the cleanest bodies of water in Europe. This region serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the beauty of Verbano Cusio Ossola throughout the year.

Mergozzo is a charming little village that has managed to maintain its historical and cultural roots over time. Its stone streets, the well-kept lakeside promenade, and the relaxed atmosphere provide a perfect backdrop for timeless strolls. The lake itself, swimmable and surrounded by greenery, attracts those seeking relaxation as well as enthusiasts of water sports such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Its shores, home to diverse wildlife and enriched with bike paths and trails, continuously invite exploration.

Just a short distance away lies the majestic Lake Maggiore, featuring the elegant Borromean Islands, the botanical gardens of Villa Taranto, historic villas overlooking the water, and charming towns like Stresa and Verbania, all rich in allure and culture. Further afield, Lake Orta welcomes visitors with its poetic and ancient ambiance, highlighted by Orta San Giulio and its namesake island, home to a Romanesque basilica and a Benedictine monastery.

For mountain lovers, the area offers a vast array of opportunities. Valgrande, a true cathedral of Italian wilderness, can be explored on foot directly from the village, while Mottarone, accessible by car or via a cable car from Stresa, provides views that stretch from the seven lakes to Monte Rosa. There are also striking natural attractions, such as the spectacular Toce Waterfall and the Premia Thermal Baths, perfect for indulging in wellness moments.

Those who enjoy physical activity will find plenty to satisfy their cravings: trekking, road cycling or mountain biking, golf (with four courses within a 30-kilometer radius), sport climbing on the Corni di Nibbio, and family fun at the Aquadventure Park, set in nature. Water sports also take center stage, thanks to the swimmable lakes and numerous sporting events that animate the area each year, such as the triathlon on Lake Mergozzo, attracting athletes from across Europe.

The location is also strategic for broader cultural excursions: from here, Milan, Switzerland, and the international airport of Malpensa are easily reachable, along with the many historic villages and spa towns scattered throughout the Ossola valleys. In this corner of Piedmont, every stay becomes an experience to be savored with all the senses, amidst breathtaking scenery, authentic flavors, and genuine hospitality.
