The area where La Casa del Prof is located is one of the most picturesque in southern Piedmont, nestled in the heart of the Monferrato hills, which have been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for their landscape, cultural, and wine-related significance. The property sits along via Crevacuore, a scenic road that leads to the hill of the same name, providing stunning views of neatly arranged vineyards, forests, and cultivated fields, interspersed with ancient villages and rural churches.
Calosso is a small hilltop town surrounded by the tranquility and beauty of nature, famous for its fine wines such as Moscato and Barbera, which can be tasted directly in the various local wineries. At certain times of the year, visitors can also explore the castle that overlooks the village, which tells centuries of history and tradition.
Just a few kilometers away are some of the most iconic destinations in the region. Canelli, located about 8 km away, is the historical capital of Italian sparkling wine and features extraordinary underground cathedrals, monumental wineries carved into the rock, now recognized as UNESCO heritage. Equally captivating is Nizza Monferrato, known for its “gobbo cardo” and as a hub for Piedmontese gastronomy, with its historic arcades and traditional shops.
Neive, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, is just over 10 km away and retains its medieval charm with its cobblestone streets and stone houses. From here, there is a natural access point to the Langhe region, with must-visit spots like Barbaresco, Barolo, and Alba, renowned for its white truffle and excellent wines.
Heading south leads to Asti, famous for the Palio and its rich architectural heritage, as well as Acqui Terme, known since Roman times for its thermal waters. Further up, at about 800 meters above sea level, lies Roccaverano, a small village that captivates with its authenticity and the production of goat robiola cheese, a symbol of Piedmont.
This area is ideal for those who enjoy scenic walks, cycling routes, cultural visits, gastronomic experiences, and genuine relaxation moments, all within a context that remains largely untouched by mass tourism and rich in authentic atmospheres.
