Nestled within a forest of ancient oaks and holm oaks in Padru, Agriturismo Casteddu is one of the oldest rural homes in the area, located just 15 minutes from San Teodoro and the sea, and 20 minutes from Olbia. The establishment is situated in the historic stazzo Casteddu, which dates back to the early 1800s, where hospitality is intertwined with the memory of an authentic place deeply connected to the land.

The guest areas have been created from the original spaces of the stazzo, including storage rooms and old stables, carefully transformed into bedrooms and communal areas. The renovations have honored the traditional architecture, preserving original materials such as stone, wood, and lime, with ceilings crafted from exposed reeds. Each room, with its unique character, overlooks a spacious, tree-filled garden, perfect for relaxation and outdoor activities, especially for families with children.

The hospitality is warm and familial, stemming from a deep-rooted passion. The owner grew up in this place and, with the help of his family and collaborators, established the first agriturismo in the area in 1986. Every detail is designed to make guests feel at home, starting with breakfast served in the garden, featuring warm bread, homemade jams, and pastries.

The kitchen is the beating heart of Casteddu. There is no fixed menu; instead, the culinary offerings change with the seasons and celebrate Sardinian tradition. Alongside classic dishes like gnocchetti, mint ravioli, gallurese soup, culurgiones, and the famous roasted piglet, there are also meals inspired by the surrounding nature, such as wild boar with olives, braised liver, seasonal vegetables, fresh broad beans with bacon and mint, artichokes, and wild asparagus. The cheese selection includes cow's and sheep's milk cheeses, along with fresh or salted ricotta.

In autumn, mushrooms gathered from the forest take center stage in rich, fragrant dishes: salads of porcini and chanterelles, fresh tagliatelle, polenta with sausages, sautéed or fried mushrooms. To finish the meal, there’s Seada, a typical Sardinian dessert that combines honey and fresh cheese in a thin pastry shell, all complemented by a good local red wine.

At Agriturismo Casteddu, guests experience a blend of nature, tranquility, authentic flavors, and human warmth, in a corner of Sardinia that retains the charm of its roots.
Breakfast at Agriturismo Casteddu is a delightful experience that begins with the aroma of freshly baked bread, paired with homemade jams, artisanal cakes, and other authentic products made from local ingredients. On beautiful days, it is served outdoors in the tree-lined garden surrounding the property, providing guests with a peaceful awakening in nature. It’s a simple yet flavorful start to the day, designed to make every guest feel like part of the family.
The restaurant at Agriturismo Casteddu offers a cuisine that is deeply rooted in Sardinian tradition and the rhythm of the seasons. There is no fixed menu; instead, a variety of dishes rotate based on the fresh, local ingredients available. Alongside classic recipes such as Sardinian gnocchi, mint ricotta ravioli, Gallurese soup, culurgiones, and roasted suckling pig, there are seasonal dishes that highlight the ingredients of the moment, including wild boar with olives, braised liver, battered and fried vegetables, and broad beans with bacon and mint.

In the autumn, the surrounding forest provides exquisite mushrooms, featured in many dishes like fresh tagliatelle with porcini, polenta with sausages and mushrooms, salads with mushrooms, and sautéed or grilled versions. The offerings are complemented by cow and sheep cheeses, as well as fresh and salted ricotta. To finish the meal, there’s Seada, a traditional dessert filled with cheese and honey, served warm. Everything is paired with a good Sardinian red wine, creating an authentic and satisfying culinary experience.

Hey, I'm Camilla

The manager of Agriturismo Casteddu was born in 1958 right within the historic family estate, which dates back to the early 1800s. He has always lived and worked in this place, which is deeply connected to his land. In 1986, after renovating the old stables while respecting traditional architecture, he opened what is recognized as the first agriturismo in the area. Today, he runs the business alongside his family and a close-knit team of collaborators, aiming to provide guests with an authentic, simple, and genuine welcome, making everyone feel like part of the life at Casteddu.

Area Campagna

Casteddu Agriturismo is located in the Padru area, amidst the hilly landscape of inner Gallura, where the scenery still retains the authentic and wild charm of the more intimate Sardinia. This region is characterized by dense stretches of holm oaks, oaks, and Mediterranean scrub, interspersed with trails that once connected the stazzi, the ancient rural homes typical of the area, which have now often been transformed into accommodations related to agritourism and rural life.

Padru is strategically positioned, allowing easy access to some of the most beautiful beaches on the northeastern coast of the island, such as those at San Teodoro, Puntaldia, and Cala Brandinchi, which are just a 15-20 minute drive away. These coastlines, famous for their clear waters and light sand, are a major attraction for those looking to combine nature's relaxation with beach days.

Not far away are Olbia, with its port and airport, and Monte Nieddu, one of the most picturesque mountains in Gallura, perfect for hiking or mountain biking among waterfalls, viewpoints, and rocky landscapes shaped by the wind. This area also boasts a rich natural and wildlife heritage, where one can observe wild boars, foxes, birds of prey, and numerous typical plant species.

The local culture remains deeply rooted and is evident in the slow pace of daily life, the small villages, and the traditional festivals that celebrate the agricultural cycle and religious occasions with music, dance, and culinary specialties. It is an authentic territory where nature and Sardinian identity express themselves in all their strength, and Casteddu Agriturismo invites visitors to explore it with a respectful and curious eye.
