The area of Guardia Grande, where the B&B Rita is located, is one of the most enchanting and unspoiled regions in Alghero. Nestled in the northwestern part of Sardinia, this rural district boasts stunning landscapes featuring cultivated fields, vineyards, and Mediterranean scrub, with views that change color with the seasons. It is a quiet and scenic area, perfect for those seeking relaxation, nature, and authenticity, while still being just a few minutes away from the main attractions of the region.
Within a few kilometers, you can reach some of the most picturesque beaches of the Coral Riviera, such as Le Bombarde, Lazzaretto, Mugoni, and Porto Ferro, all known for their fine sand and crystal-clear waters. Nearby lies the protected marine area of Capo Caccia, home to the famous Neptune Caves and dramatic cliffs overlooking the sea, which offer breathtaking scenic trails and excursions.
The area is also rich in archaeological and historical sites, including the Nuraghe Palmavera, the necropolises of Anghelu Ruju, and the Nuragic village of Sant’Imbenia, which tell the ancient story of Sardinian civilization. Not far away is Lake Baratz, the only natural lake in Sardinia, and the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park, a vast protected area with trekking paths, cycling routes, and wildlife observation spots.
Alghero, with its Catalan-influenced historic center, towers, seaside walls, cobblestone streets, and vibrant cultural life, is easily accessible by car. Here, visitors can explore ancient churches, artisan shops, local markets, and restaurants offering regional specialties based on seafood, cheeses, and local wines.
The region is also famous for its culinary production: from the wines of the nearby Santa Maria La Palma winery to extra virgin olive oil, as well as garden produce and cheeses, every flavor tells a story of authentic Sardinia. Those who appreciate nature, culture, and good food will find a perfect balance of beauty and simplicity in this corner of the island.
