Nestled among the most authentic hills of Tuscany, where time seems to stand still and nature still governs the rhythms of life, Agriturismo La Landuccia welcomes its guests into an atmosphere of tranquility, beauty, and harmony. Away from the most traveled tourist routes, this ancient stone farmhouse, lovingly restored with respect for the environment, offers stays immersed in greenery, surrounded by shaded paths, the sounds of crickets, streams, and views that stretch across the Val di Cecina to Volterra.

The property is located within the La Pietraia Agricultural Company, which spans twenty hectares adjacent to the Monterufoli nature reserve. There are five independent apartments, each equipped with all comforts while maintaining the rustic charm of Tuscan farmhouses, featuring exposed beams, terracotta floors, stone, wrought iron, and chestnut wood. Each accommodation has a private outdoor space with a table, chairs, barbecue, and an independent water source. The large garden, overlooking ancient woods and the surrounding hills, provides perfect corners for relaxation, reading, or simply listening to nature.

The restoration work, which took three years, was carried out with meticulous attention to sustainability: the property is heated by a biomass boiler and solar panels, while cooling is provided through radiant panels. The water used comes from a natural spring and is managed through restored ancient channels. There are also ongoing efforts to implement a photovoltaic system and mini wind turbines, aiming for energy self-sufficiency.

The history of La Landuccia is deeply rooted in Tuscany's medieval past. Next to the main farmhouse stands an ancient rural tower, known as “Landuccia vecchia,” likely dating from the 13th to 15th centuries. The current main building was constructed between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, following the model of the external staircase farmhouse promoted by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, which combined functionality and architectural solidity. Every brick and stone tells a story, as evidenced by ancient documents and family memories passed down through the centuries.

During their stay, guests can explore a remarkable territory rich in biodiversity, forest trails, hills, gorges, and small streams. Visitors can set off directly on foot or by bicycle to discover the surroundings, or reach Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Florence, and the Etruscan coast in just over an hour by car.

The hospitality here is simple and generous, rooted in farming tradition, characterized by sincere smiles and produce grown according to organic farming methods. The flavors served at the table have been part of the family that cares for and inhabits this place for generations. At La Landuccia, guests arrive as visitors and leave with the feeling of having rediscovered a deep connection with nature and the history of this extraordinary land.

Hey, I'm Jody & famiglia della Landuccia

For a long time, we have taken care of this small part of the world with the same dedication we give to hospitality, cuisine, and the well-being of those who choose to stay with us. We are a Tuscan family deeply rooted in this area, connected for generations to the land, its rhythms, and its silences. Since 2011, we have decided to share the beauty of this authentic corner of Tuscany by opening the doors of our home to those seeking a vacation filled with simplicity, nature, and warmth. Franca and Claudio, along with Jonatan and Jody and their families – along with a lively group of animals that live with us – are the heartbeat of the agriturismo. Each person passionately contributes to making this place vibrant and welcoming, turning every stay into a genuine and heartfelt experience.

Area Campagna

Landuccia is situated in the most intimate heart of Tuscany, nestled in a secluded valley at the foot of the Monterufoli nature reserve, a protected area that preserves the authenticity of Tuscany's wild and unspoiled landscape. Here, amidst oak forests, flowing streams, and hills shaped by time, nature reigns supreme, providing a perfect backdrop for those seeking peace, rejuvenation, and a connection with the environment.

The agriturismo's remote location ensures quiet and tranquility, away from traffic and mass tourism, while still allowing easy access to some of the region's most enchanting destinations. Volterra rises on the horizon, visible from the gardens of the property and just a short drive away. Further along, San Gimignano, Siena, and Florence offer the magic of Tuscany's artistic cities, while to the west lies the Etruscan Coast, with its beaches, pine forests, and charming seaside villages.

Surrounding the area are ancient trails, mule paths, and green routes, perfect for hiking or cycling. The region is rich in natural points of interest, as well as historical and geological sites: from medieval ruins hidden within the woods to remnants of mining activities, from natural springs to breathtaking views that suddenly appear around each bend. Every walk can turn into a new discovery.

Finally, the area also boasts culinary excellence, with small farms, olive oil mills, wineries, and local markets where one can savor the typical products of this land. Those who choose to stay at Landuccia will feel as though they are exploring a deep and authentic Tuscany, where rural identity merges with a cultural and landscape heritage of rare beauty.
