Nestled among the Umbrian hills, just a few kilometers from Orvieto, Agriturismo Antica Olivaia welcomes guests in a 17th-century stone farmhouse, set within a UNESCO natural reserve. It is a genuine place where time seems to slow down, and the views stretch across olive groves, forests, and the tuff cliff that supports the stunning city of Orvieto.

The farmhouse, carefully restored, maintains its original structure, featuring terracotta floors, exposed beam ceilings, and large fireplaces. It offers six spacious rooms, each with a private bathroom and panoramic views, furnished in rustic style and named after different olive varieties, paying tribute to the centuries-old olive grove surrounding the property.

Breakfast is a special occasion: homemade cakes and jams, local honey, fresh fruit, and traditional products are served on the veranda or in the lounge overlooking the countryside. On select evenings, the hosts prepare simple yet unforgettable dinners inspired by Umbrian tradition, enhanced by locally sourced ingredients.

The agriturismo is surrounded by seven hectares of sustainably cultivated land, including an olive grove with 700 trees, a forest, an orchard, a synergistic garden, and a panoramic swimming pool that invites relaxation. A veranda and a gazebo provide stunning views of Monte Amiata and Orvieto, perfect for enjoying a sunset aperitif or a contemplative break.

Daniela and Marco, the owners, have turned their dream into a reality filled with hospitality, nature, and culture. Daniela, with her background in Art History, offers personalized itineraries exploring medieval villages, culinary paths, and nature walks. Marco, a musician and passionate cook, loves to share his enthusiasm for authentic flavors and the relaxed atmosphere of home cooking.

Four-legged companions also add to the family atmosphere: Miles, a mix between a setter and a labrador, and the kittens Lucy and Quilt, make the environment even more welcoming. Every detail contributes to creating an authentic experience where the harmony between humans and nature is tangible.

Agriturismo Antica Olivaia is the perfect base for discovering Umbria, as well as Lazio and Tuscany. From here, art cities such as Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Spoleto, and Montepulciano are easily accessible, alongside iconic sites like Civita di Bagnoregio, Lake Bolsena, and the Marmore Falls. The train from Orvieto provides convenient connections to Rome and Florence.

For those seeking a break from the daily hustle, this corner of the Umbrian countryside offers an invitation to slow down, reconnect with one's rhythms, and savor the beauty of simple things.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast at the Agriturismo Antica Olivaia is a peaceful and enjoyable experience, to be savored slowly on the veranda overlooking the garden or in the farmhouse's lounge. Each morning, a generous buffet is offered with fresh and wholesome products, many of which are homemade: cakes and tarts, jams made from the farm's fruit, yogurt, freshly baked bread, local honey, seasonal fruit, and upon request, scrambled eggs. There are also juices, coffee, tea, milk, cappuccinos, and hot beverages to kickstart the day with energy. It’s a simple yet genuine breakfast that reflects the flavors of Umbria and the desire to care for guests from the moment they wake up.

Hey, I'm Marco & Daniela

Daniela and Marco have decided to leave city life behind to pursue their dream of living close to nature, in a cozy home in the heart of Umbria. With passion and commitment, they have renovated an old farmhouse that now serves as the Antica Olivaia Agriturismo, transforming it into an authentic retreat where they can share their simple and heartfelt lifestyle. Daniela, who was born in Chicago and holds a degree in Economics and Art History, is the curious and creative spirit of the agriturismo. She has an in-depth knowledge of the area and enjoys recommending personalized itineraries, cultural experiences, nature walks, and gastronomic encounters. Marco, a musician and passionate cook, welcomes guests with his dishes made from local ingredients and traditional recipes, sometimes accompanied by the sounds of a piano. Together, they treat every guest like a family friend, with warmth and attentiveness, providing a genuine stay that is a world away from the hustle and bustle and close to the essence of life.

Area Campagna

The area surrounding Agriturismo Antica Olivaia is a genuine corner of Umbria, where nature intertwines with history, art, and culinary traditions. Just a few minutes from the farmhouse lies Orvieto, a captivating city perched on a tuff cliff, known for its famous Gothic cathedral, medieval streets, Etruscan undergrounds, and the enchanting St. Patrick's Well. However, the charm extends beyond the city limits: surrounding it are villages, abbeys, and landscapes shaped by time.

Thanks to its strategic location at the crossroads of Umbria, Lazio, and Tuscany, treasures such as Civita di Bagnoregio, Lake Bolsena, Todi, Spoleto, Montefalco, Città della Pieve, Assisi, and Perugia can be reached in a short time. Rome and Florence are also easily accessible by train from the nearby Orvieto station.

This region is perfect for those who enjoy walking, cycling, or simply wandering through the vibrant colors of the countryside. Nature reserves, trekking paths, trails among olive groves and vineyards, hot springs, and waterfalls offer a variety of rejuvenating experiences. Local festivals, markets, music events like Umbria Jazz, and historical reenactments showcase the most lively and authentic face of a land that maintains a strong connection to its seasons and traditions.

Here, the landscape is not just a backdrop but a constant presence that enhances every moment of the stay.
