Al Vecchio Baito is a guesthouse born from the desire to bring life and warmth back to a village that had long been silent. The old barn and the baito, once the heart of farming activities and cheese production, have been transformed into spaces dedicated to hospitality while preserving the essence of the place. Today, the rooms and the common area welcome travelers in search of authenticity, offering a simple and informal environment where families and those looking to slow down can feel at home.

The common room, created from the old barn, retains the convivial atmosphere of the past, evoking the moments of storytelling gatherings where people came together to share tales and experiences. It is a place that encourages connection and exchange, where guests can get to know one another, discover anecdotes about the village, and allow children to play together in a safe and friendly environment.

The establishment is located on the outskirts of the Lessinia Natural Park, immersed in nature and surrounded by landscapes that change colors with the seasons. Roe deer, foxes, and marmots inhabit the surrounding woods, offering unexpected encounters to those who move respectfully through the area. From the village of Masenel, several easy-to-navigate trails lead to enchanting places like Dosso Alto, Malga San Giorgio, the Valley of the Sphinxes, and small villages rich in history.

Al Vecchio Baito is not just a hillside stay, but an experience that combines nature, memory, and hospitality. The family-run management, led by Lucia along with her sisters Stefania and Milena, stems from a deep connection to Lessinia and the desire to share with guests the value of returning to one’s roots and the beauty of simplicity.

Hey, I'm Lucia

Lucia, along with her sisters Stefania and Milena, has made the decision to bring life and hospitality back to their family’s district, turning once-neglected areas into warm and inviting spaces. This idea stemmed from a desire to honor their maternal roots and to welcome those seeking an authentic refuge away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With passion and attention, the three sisters treat their guests as members of the community, sharing stories and traditions from Lessinia and fostering a family atmosphere that makes every stay a heartfelt and genuine experience.

Area Collina

Lessinia is a plateau located among the Veronese Prealps, a region that surprises with its diverse landscapes and the authenticity of its traditions. Here, nature takes center stage, featuring forests, pastures, valleys, and rock formations that narrate a millennia-old story shaped by both geology and human presence.

The Lessinia Natural Park is home to unique sites like the Valley of the Sphinxes, with its majestic stone monoliths sculpted by the wind, as well as historic hamlets—small rural settlements that still preserve the typical stone architecture of the area. Along the easily accessible trails, suitable even for families, one can discover mountain huts, pastures, and breathtaking views stretching from the Dolomites to the Venetian plain.

In addition to its natural beauty, Lessinia boasts a rich cultural identity. The traditions of the Cimbri, ancient Germanic settlers, are still reflected in the local dialects, customs, and cuisine. Cheeses, cured meats, dishes made with wild herbs, and the iconic gnocco sbatù are all manifestations of a simple, land-based cuisine.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the area is perfect for hiking, nature walks, gathering herbs and mushrooms, as well as opportunities for photography and plein air painting. During the winter months, Malga San Giorgio serves as a hub for skiing and snow activities.

The Masenel hamlet, where Al Vecchio Baito is located, is the ideal starting point to experience all of this: a peaceful place, surrounded by nature, yet close to the main paths leading to Dosso Alto, Parparo Vecchio, San Francesco, and other villages that tell the story and life of these mountains.
