In the heart of a private park just a short walk from the center of Zocca, Il Castellaro welcomes guests to a charming stone cottage that is independent and surrounded by the tranquility of nature. It is the perfect retreat for those seeking relaxation while still enjoying the convenience of nearby amenities. The spacious and well-equipped garden invites guests to spend time outdoors, enjoying barbecues, reading, and sunlit breakfasts.

The recently renovated cottage accommodates up to four guests and features a queen-size bedroom, a living room with a sofa bed, a kitchenette complete with a dishwasher and microwave, and a private bathroom. Guests have access to a flat-screen TV, an iron and ironing board, complete bedding, and a generous Italian breakfast, featuring a selection of pastries, cereals, yogurt, jams, and eggs. The coffee machine allows for the preparation of tea, hot chocolate, and herbal teas, with alternative breakfast options available for those with food intolerances or special dietary needs.

Il Castellaro is perfect for couples seeking intimacy, families with children—who can find a crib, toys, and books available—and for travelers with well-behaved pets. Guests can take advantage of an internal parking area secured by an automatic gate and receive constant support from the hosts, Andrea and Barbara, who are always available for advice, information, and recommendations on local attractions.

The area is rich in history and natural beauty. From the Sanctuary of Verucchia to the Tower of Rosola, and from the ruins of the castles of Dragodena and Montetortore to the centuries-old chestnut tree in Montombraro, every corner tells a fascinating story. Numerous trails lead to stunning views, such as the Orrido di Gea or the spectacular Labante Caves, ideal for hiking and direct contact with nature. For an authentic experience, every first and third Saturday of the month, guests can enjoy a breakfast-tasting at the Rosola Dairy, featuring local flavors and tradition.

Il Castellaro combines the warmth of hospitality with the beauty of a region waiting to be explored.

Area Campagna

Zocca is located in the Modenese Apennines, enjoying a prime spot amidst ancient woods, historic villages, and breathtaking views over tranquil valleys. The landscape, enveloped in lush and unspoiled nature, is crisscrossed by trails that beckon for walks, trekking, and horseback or mountain biking adventures, revealing glimpses of exceptional beauty throughout the year.

Just a short distance from the B&B Il Castellaro lies the Sanctuary of Verucchia, a site of spirituality connected to a captivating Marian legend. Nearby, the 13th-century Torre di Rosola stands as a testament to the area's long feudal history, alongside the ruins of the castles of Dragodena and Montetortore, all set within an untouched natural backdrop. The nearby Monte Questiolo, with the remnants of an ancient fortress, and the medieval village of Montecorone narrate a rich past filled with noble events and rural life.

The region is dotted with enchanting sites, such as the ancient Chestnut tree of Montombraro, a symbol of longevity and the resilience of nature, and the Labante Cave, one of the largest primary travertine caves, famous for its dramatic waterfalls. For those interested in botany and ethnography, the Chestnut Museum and the Birch Forest in the San Giacomo area provide a glimpse into local rural culture.

In between visits, there are plenty of opportunities to savor the local flavors at dairies, traditional restaurants, and small markets, where the aromas of the mountains and Emilian cuisine come together. Additionally, Zocca is the hometown of Vasco Rossi, Italy's most beloved rock star; for many fans, a visit to his childhood home is a must, symbolizing a strong and genuine connection to the area.

Zocca is a place where history, nature, and tradition blend seamlessly, offering visitors an intimate and authentic experience, far removed from mass tourism.
