Casina Pepe is a recently renovated cottage that blends modern comfort with the charm of a natural and authentic setting. Located in the Mazzini Village at the foot of Mount Fumaiolo, it is situated in the neighborhood of Montecoronaro, a small hamlet within the municipality of Verghereto. The residence, rated in energy class A4, has been designed using state-of-the-art materials to ensure efficiency and sustainability, providing guests with a stay focused on relaxation and convenience.

The interiors feature a living room with an open-plan, fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom, a small room with a bunk bed, and a bathroom with a shower. Guests have access to Smart TVs, Wi-Fi, underfloor heating for the colder months, and a set of eco-friendly hygiene and cleaning products. The atmosphere is enhanced by thoughtful details that make the stay enjoyable, such as books, playing cards, and a pod coffee machine. Outside, there is a private garden with a table for al fresco dining, as well as a parking space equipped with an electric vehicle charging station.

The location is perfect for those who appreciate tranquility: a children's playground is located right in front, next to the always-open village bar, and nearby are a grocery store and the Al Molino restaurant, known for its impressive wine cellar. During the summer months, Montecoronaro comes alive with festivals and local events organized by the community, such as the wild boar festival, the water-cooked festival, and the Ferragosto Stincobirrata.

The surrounding area invites exploration. Numerous marked trails lead to the sources of the Savio and Tevere rivers, to the Apennine shrines, and along the spiritual route from Rimini to La Verna, which many hikers choose each year. Montecoronaro also retains traces of its historical role as a border between the Papal State and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, making the village a place rich in tradition and memory.

Casina Pepe is passionately managed by Cristina, who enjoys traveling and meeting new people, and she welcomes her guests with the same care she gives to her own home. A stay here offers the chance to rejuvenate amidst nature, culture, and genuine hospitality.

Area Collina

Montecoronaro is a small mountain village in the municipality of Verghereto, nestled among the woods and hills of the Tuscan-Romagnol Apennines, at the foot of Mount Fumaiolo. Although it is now home to only a few dozen permanent residents, the village has a significant history: it was once a strategic transit point and housed the customs office that managed the borders between the Papal States and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Today, one can still see remnants from that era, such as the boundary mile marker, which remind us of the village's central role in past centuries.

The area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The trails winding through the woods lead to the sources of the Savio and Tevere rivers, offering scenic walks and unspoiled views. Hiking aficionados can traverse sections of the famous Rimini–La Verna trail, a route that combines nature, spirituality, and history, passing by ancient shrines like that of Sant’Alberico and La Verna. Additionally, numerous marked paths lead to shelters, pastures, and clearings, perfect for those seeking peace and quiet.

During the summer months, the village comes alive with activities organized by the local pro loco and popular festivals that have gained regional recognition. The wild boar festival in July, the water-cooked festival in August, and the Stincobirrata on the eve of Ferragosto are events that attract visitors from all around the area, offering traditional dishes and communal moments.

Montecoronaro maintains a slow and authentic pace of life, far from mass tourism, yet rich in traditions and connections with nature. It serves as an ideal starting point for those looking to alternate days of hiking and spiritual walks with moments of relaxation in a serene and genuine setting, immersed in the green heart of the Apennines.
