Surrounded by the wild nature of the Val di Vara, just a few minutes from the highway and a short distance from the Cinque Terre, the Agriturismo Il Filo di Paglia welcomes its guests in an authentic setting, immersed in greenery and committed to respecting the land. The property consists of two eco-sustainable homes: a straw house and a restored farmhouse built with eco-friendly materials, offering rooms furnished with antique furniture and natural plaster, perfect for those seeking peace and wellness.

The agriturismo operates as a genuine farm: the natural garden, orchards, olive grove, and the breeding of Cabannine cows—a Slow Food presidium—ensure fresh products that feed the restaurant's kitchen, which is open to external guests as well. Here, you can enjoy honest, seasonal, and locally rooted cuisine designed for those who appreciate quality and care in ingredients. From meat to cheeses, preserves to jams, everything reflects a short supply chain and a passion for farming.

Breakfast is served on the veranda overlooking the valley, and the restaurant offers dishes such as troccoli with white ragù made from Cabannine beef or raw milk cheeses, accompanied by a selection of natural wines. Guests can enhance their stay with wellness experiences, including massages, holistic treatments, and yoga sessions, along with relaxing moments in the garden or under the pergola. Outdoor activities abound, from the trails of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri to swimming in nearby streams.

Entirely managed by the Azaghi family, who have over thirty years of experience in the restaurant industry, Il Filo di Paglia is the result of a conscious lifestyle choice that combines warm hospitality, natural farming, and a love for the land. Ideal for couples and small families, it serves as a perfect starting point to explore the Ligurian Levante, the Cinque Terre, Lunigiana, and Alta Tuscany.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast is served in the panoramic veranda overlooking the woods of Val di Vara, providing a slow and harmonious awakening. It is a moment designed to savor authentic flavors at a leisurely pace in a relaxed atmosphere.

Guests will find a hot beverage of their choice at the table, including coffee, tea, herbal infusions, or fresh milk, accompanied by homemade bread made with biodynamic flour, organic butter, artisanal jams made from the farm's fruit, and a different cake each day. Additionally, a small buffet features organic cereals, yogurt, locally produced honey, and seasonal fresh fruit.

Breakfast is available upon request at a cost of 7.50 euros for adults and 5 euros for children under ten. It is a simple yet authentic experience that reflects the philosophy of the agriturismo: to nourish with taste and mindfulness, celebrating what the land provides.
The restaurant at the agriturismo is the vibrant core of the culinary experience offered by Filo di Paglia. It is open to both guests of the facility and the general public, featuring honest and authentic cuisine built around the farm's ingredients. Here, the focus is not on flashy presentations but rather on enhancing the quality of the raw materials through dishes that are deeply connected to seasonality and the local area.

The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with a scenic veranda and a dining area set within the straw house, accommodating approximately 60 guests. The menu changes according to the availability of farm products and includes both à la carte options and tasting menus, with an average cost ranging from 40 to 45 euros per person. Signature dishes feature meats and cheeses from the Cabannina breed, vegetables from the garden, and preparations that tell the story of authentic Liguria: from troccoli with white cocoa ragù to croxetti, and a selection of aged cheeses.

Reservations are required. Pets, strollers, and people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds are warmly welcomed in a friendly environment where respect for food is evident in every detail.

Hey, I'm Francesca

The agriturismo is run with dedication by the Azaghi family, who have transformed their longstanding experience in the restaurant industry into a sustainable life project. After leaving their seafood restaurant overlooking Portofino, they built the first straw house in Liguria, located in the village of Pavareto, reclaiming abandoned land and starting a farm based on organic and environmentally friendly practices. Today, each family member plays an active role in the management of the establishment: Marco works in the kitchen, Paolo assists as a sous-chef, Francesca takes care of the dining area, and Simone, a naturopathy expert, oversees cheese production. Their discreet yet attentive presence ensures a genuine and familial welcome, characterized by care, passion, and respect for both the guests and the land that hosts them.

Area Collina

The Val di Vara is an authentic and still relatively undiscovered corner of Liguria, a vast green valley that stretches inland from the Levante, nestled between the Cinque Terre National Park and the Tuscan border. This area, also referred to as "the organic valley," is characterized by its harmonious landscape, rich biodiversity, and strong rural identity. Here, life moves at a slow pace, the villages maintain an old-world charm, and nature reigns supreme amidst forests, streams, and scenic paths.

The region is perfect for those seeking sustainable tourism, featuring hikes through beech and chestnut forests, swimming in crystal-clear streams, and leisurely walks along mule paths and ridges with views extending to the sea. The Alta Via dei Monti Liguri and the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre provide spectacular routes for trekking and mountain biking enthusiasts, as well as for anyone wishing to rejuvenate in silence and beauty.

Not far away, one can explore coastal villages like Bonassola, Framura, and Levanto, or gaze over the Gulf of Poets with Lerici and Portovenere. The famous Cinque Terre, with their dramatic terraced landscapes overlooking the sea, are easily accessible, as are the bays of Sestri Levante, Zoagli, and Portofino. The inland areas also hide treasures, such as Lunigiana with its castles or the stone villages of Upper Tuscany. In less than an hour's drive, one can transition from the tranquility of the woods to the deep blue of the Ligurian Sea, achieving a perfect balance of nature, culture, and rural traditions.
