Nestled in a scenic location between the Gulf of La Spezia and the Magra River valley, this 18th-century villa welcomes guests with an authentic ambiance steeped in history. Once the summer residence of the Counts Federici, a noble family from La Spezia documented as early as the land registry of 1569, the property has been meticulously maintained by its young owner, who enthusiastically shares its beauty and secrets while offering valuable tips for exploring the surrounding area.

The villa retains its original charm, featuring rooms that overlook either the cooler or sunnier slopes, depending on their orientation, and thick stone walls that ensure natural coolness and tranquility throughout the seasons. The interior spaces tell a story filled with stuccoes, frescoes, antique furniture, and unique details, such as the ancient chapel converted into a sitting room, which has become a symbol of the home, and the central hall that comes alive in the morning with breakfast and during moments of togetherness.

The spacious and inviting bedrooms are enhanced by decorated ceilings, original furnishings from the 18th and 19th centuries, and family heirlooms, including maps and rare books that recount the history of the Federici family. The lounge, with views of the city of La Spezia, and the travel library encourage relaxation and exploration, while the south-facing terrace provides a bright and pleasant space to enjoy the surrounding tranquility.

The family-run management, with fifteen years of experience in the hospitality industry and a cosmopolitan spirit shaped by a life as globe-trotters between Italy and America, ensures genuine and attentive service. The villa is featured in numerous travel guides and magazines, including DeAgostini, Meridiani, Touring, and Frommer’s, affirming its historical significance and the quality of hospitality offered.

Strategically located at the border of Liguria and Tuscany, it serves as an ideal starting point for visiting the Cinque Terre, Portovenere, Lerici, the medieval villages of Lunigiana, the marble quarries of Carrara, and the art cities of Pisa and Lucca. Just a few kilometers away are La Spezia, with its museums and waterfront, and Sarzana, known for antiques and fortifications. It is a place where history intertwines with elegance and the warmth of hospitality.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast is served in various settings depending on the season and guests’ preferences: on the sunny terrace, in the central lounge filled with morning light, or in the cozy chapel-lounge adorned with its historic stuccos.

The selection is abundant and diverse, designed to cater to different tastes, balancing sweet and savory options. Guests can enjoy a variety of teas, cappuccinos, coffee made with a moka pot or in American style, hot milk, and fruit juices, including orange and tropical flavors. There are also cookies, fresh bread with butter and jams, yogurt, and a selection of cereals that features corn flakes, oats, Special-K, and All-Bran.

For those who prefer a heartier start to the day, there are eggs, cheese, slices of mortadella, and fresh apples. A homemade touch is provided by the simple yet carefully prepared plum cake. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm, and inviting, making it the perfect setting to begin the day with ease and enjoyment.

Hey, I'm Giacomo

The villa is run by a young and curious Italian-American couple, united by a shared love for travel, particularly authentic and accessible experiences. Since 1999, they have opened their family home to guests from around the globe, sharing its history and ambiance, and over the past fifteen years, they have gathered countless memorable experiences and encounters. Giacomo, who grew up in Brescia, Pavia, and Verona, decided to relocate to this beautiful corner of Liguria to reconnect with his roots and immerse himself in nature and the area's beauty. Isabel, originally from Ecuador, graduated with a degree in computer engineering in Manta and brings a broad, multicultural perspective enriched by her international experiences. Together, they provide attentive, genuine, and informal hospitality, always ready to suggest personalized itineraries, share anecdotes related to the house and the local area, and make every guest feel at home.

Area Collina

The villa is situated in a prime location on the hills that separate Liguria from Tuscany, surrounded by a harmonious landscape where the green of the countryside meets the blue of the sea. This area serves as a natural and cultural crossroads, making it ideal for those who wish to explore two of Italy’s most captivating regions, rich in history, nature, and art.

Just a few kilometers away is La Spezia, a vibrant port city with an interesting museum heritage: the Amedeo Lia Museum, featuring a collection of works from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, and the Naval Technical Museum, which showcases the city's long maritime tradition. From here, one can easily access the renowned locations of the Riviera di Levante, such as the Cinque Terre, Portovenere, and Lerici, where colorful villages perch on steep cliffs overlooking clear coves.

Heading inland, the territory of Lunigiana unfolds, dotted with castles, Romanesque churches, and well-preserved medieval villages like Fosdinovo, Pontremoli, and Bagnone. This area remains authentic, perfect for those who enjoy culinary trails, nature walks, and timeless atmospheres.

To the south, Tuscany is just a few minutes away, offering its marvels: Carrara and its spectacular white marble quarries, known worldwide, and further on, the art cities of Pisa and Lucca, reachable in under an hour. Also nearby is Sarzana, an architectural gem with a significant past, featuring fortresses, noble palaces, and antique shops.

This region, still distant from mass tourism, provides the rare opportunity to experience authentic moments while moving through diverse landscapes, ancient history, culture, and local traditions. The villa’s location allows for the discovery of a different facet of the area each day, perfectly balancing sea and hills, art and nature.
