Nestled in the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside and just two kilometers from the medieval towers of San Gimignano, Hotel Sovestro welcomes its guests to a well-maintained and relaxing environment, surrounded by pines, vineyards, and olive groves. Its strategic location makes it perfect for exploring the wonders of Tuscany, from the hills of Chianti to artistic cities like Siena, Florence, and Volterra.

The hotel features forty spacious and bright rooms distributed between the ground and first floors. The ground-floor rooms come with a private garden, ideal for outdoor relaxation, while those on the upper floor offer a balcony with views of the countryside or the hotel’s pools. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, complimentary toiletries, and slippers. They are also accessible to guests with disabilities, ranging from the 12-square-meter economy type to the 22-square-meter quadruple.

Two swimming pools, a well-equipped gym, an electric car charging station, and free parking enhance the range of services designed to ensure comfort and relaxation. In the morning, a buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant or outdoors, featuring sweet and savory options, including gluten-free products.

A highlight of the property is the Da Pode restaurant, established in 1985 and still run by the founding family. Located next to the hotel, it offers authentic traditional cuisine with recipes passed down through four generations and high-quality local ingredients. Iconic dishes such as ribollita, pici with garlic sauce, and Florentine steak are served in a cozy setting, with dining rooms converted from an old barn and a terrace surrounded by greenery.

For those looking to experience Tuscany actively and authentically, Hotel Sovestro organizes guided excursions, bike tours with professional cyclists, e-bike and Vespa rentals, horseback riding, tastings at the nearby Tenuta Sovestro, and Tuscan cooking classes. Other available activities include rafting on the Elsa River, tennis at partnered clubs, and golf days at nearby courses.

The hotel is conveniently located just 100 meters from a bus stop and is a short distance from the Poggibonsi train station, making it easy to reach major tourist destinations. A stay at Hotel Sovestro combines genuine hospitality, family tradition, and an authentic immersion in the beauty of Tuscany.
Rooms and Rates
The breakfast at Hotel Sovestro is designed to provide a delightful and flavorful start to your day. Served each morning in the indoor dining area of the Da Pode restaurant or outdoors in the lush garden, it features a generous buffet filled with sweet and savory treats: homemade cakes, jams, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, cold cuts, cheeses, and Tuscan bread, all accompanied by freshly prepared hot beverages.

Particular care is given to guests with specific dietary needs, with a dedicated selection of gluten-free products. The variety and quality of the ingredients, many of which are sourced locally, make breakfast a special moment to be savored at leisure, surrounded by the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside.
The Da Pode restaurant, located next to the Sovestro Hotel, is the heart of family tradition and embodies a genuine expression of Tuscan cuisine. Established in 1985 within an old family stable, it still retains a warm and welcoming ambiance, featuring rooms decorated with items from rural tradition and a panoramic terrace surrounded by greenery, ideal for summer evenings.

In the kitchen, Mamma Lucia reigns, safeguarding family recipes passed down through four generations. The menu, which changes with the seasons and stays true to tradition, offers iconic dishes such as handmade pici, ribollita, wild boar, tripe, and the famous Florentine steak, all prepared with local ingredients and meats sourced from non-intensive farms. Homemade fresh pasta, along with the aromas of truffles, porcini mushrooms, and Tuscan saffron, enhance a sincere and unforgettable dining experience.

The restaurant is also popular among locals, open year-round and equipped with ample parking. It is entirely family-run: Barbara manages the dining area, while Sergio, who is always present, pays attention to every detail and can even prepare tartare at the table. Da Pode is not just a restaurant; it is a vibrant part of the history and identity of the hotel.

Hey, I'm Sergio

The Sovestro Hotel is directly managed by the founding family, who have passionately upheld a tradition of genuine hospitality for generations, characterized by attention to detail and love for their homeland. The Da Pode restaurant, the vibrant heart of the establishment, is still alive with the presence of Mama Lucia in the kitchen, while Barbara warmly and professionally welcomes guests in the dining area. Sergio, the head of the family, is a constant and tireless presence: he divides his time between the kitchen, dining room, and guest reception, and is even ready to prepare specialties like table-side meat tartare himself. This discreet yet attentive family management makes every stay at the Sovestro an authentic and memorable experience, where guests feel as welcomed as if they were at home.

Area Campagna

The area surrounding the Hotel Sovestro is a treasure trove of Tuscan beauty, characterized by rolling hills, medieval villages, and deep-rooted traditions. Just a short walk away stands San Gimignano, known for its iconic towers that outline the village and house one of Italy's best-preserved historic centers, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Strolling through its cobblestone streets allows you to immerse yourself in centuries of history, amidst artisan shops, museums, vibrant squares, and breathtaking views of the Val d’Elsa valleys.

The hotel's location is ideal for exploring central Tuscany: in under an hour, you can reach must-see destinations like Siena, with its famous Piazza del Campo, Volterra, rich in Etruscan artifacts, and Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. The surrounding landscapes provide the perfect setting for hiking, cycling, or Vespa rides, along with culinary tours and outdoor adventures.

A few steps from the hotel lead you through vineyards, olive groves, and white roads that unveil Romanesque churches, hidden castles, and wineries where you can taste Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the first Italian wine to receive the DOC designation.

There are also plenty of dynamic experiences available: hikes along the Via Francigena, horseback riding, rafting on the Elsa River, or cycling through the hills of Chianti and Valdera, perhaps guided by experienced cyclists. For those seeking cultural inspiration, the museums of San Gimignano and nearby artistic cities offer a rich selection of art, history, and architecture.

This region retains the authentic spirit of Tuscany, providing moments of absolute tranquility, while also offering opportunities for discovery and wonder at every turn.
