Just a few steps from the Piave River, where once stood the “repari” to protect fields and farmhouses from floods, this ancient rural house rises, bearing witness to centuries of history and hard work. Mentioned in a 17th-century map, it was purchased by the great-grandparents in the early 1900s when they operated the nearby mill. Since then, it has always been a refuge: for those seeking employment, for family members on vacation, and today for travelers in search of peace and authenticity.

The house, nestled in the countryside of Onigo, has been renovated by Leonella and Lorena, who, with the help of family, have preserved its original spirit by combining ancient stone with the comforts of modern technology. The three rooms — Prato on the ground floor, Alba, and Olmo on the first floor — all feature spacious private bathrooms. The interiors have been designed to ensure maximum comfort, thanks to complete thermal insulation, heat pump air conditioning, and LED lighting. The exterior retains traditional forms, while the surrounding nature continues to narrate the seasons with winter snowdrops and the spectacle of fireflies in early summer evenings.

Every morning, a wholesome breakfast is served, featuring homemade pastries, garden-fresh fruit, and products sourced from local businesses. The expansive garden, crossed by a small stream, is the perfect spot to unwind, read, listen to the sounds of the countryside, or admire the mountains of the Veneto foothills.

Onigo is located in the municipality of Pederobba, within the UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve of Monte Grappa and just a few kilometers from the Prosecco Hills, which are also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The location of the house allows for quick access to charming villages such as Asolo, Maser with its Palladian villa, Possagno with the Gypsotheca of Canova, Montello, Follina, and Serravalle. Venice, Padua, Treviso, and Vicenza are easily reachable by train or car, as are the Dolomites. Cycling enthusiasts will find an invitation to explore the area at a leisurely pace along the nearby Piave cycle path and the secondary roads, amidst vineyards, trattorias, and unforgettable views.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast is served in the communal area and is designed to provide a wake-up experience filled with authenticity and local flavors. Cakes and cookies are homemade, following family recipes, and are paired with jams, honey, and other products sourced from carefully selected local businesses. During the season, fresh fruits from the garden and aromatic herbs enhance the dishes. It’s a warm and genuine moment that reflects the attention and care given to every guest.

Hey, I'm Leonella

Leonella, along with her sister Lorena, has made the decision to revive their family home with passion and a deep respect for its history. Having grown up in this area, they have chosen to open the doors of this ancient farmhouse to provide guests with the same warmth that was once offered to relatives and workers of the mill. With the support of their family, they pay close attention to every detail, from sustainable renovations to furnishings, and even the selection of breakfast items. Their presence is subtle yet attentive, always ready to share advice and stories about the region with those who wish to explore it authentically.

Area Campagna

The area where the property is located is a still authentic corner of the Veneto countryside, nestled along the banks of the Piave River, a river sacred to the homeland and a key player in the history and agricultural life of these lands. Onigo, a hamlet in the municipality of Pederobba, retains the intimate atmosphere of small villages, with ancient roots and a landscape marked by the presence of water, cultivated fields, and floodplain forests.

The region is part of the UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve of Monte Grappa, a recognition that celebrates its extraordinary biodiversity and the perfect harmony between humans and the environment. Just a few kilometers away lie the Prosecco Hills, also a UNESCO World Heritage site, characterized by a succession of vineyards and gentle landscapes dotted with churches, wineries, and quaint villages frozen in time.

This area invites slow tourism: the Piave cycling path, partially already accessible, follows the river’s course and allows for leisurely exploration of the surroundings, with opportunities to stop at a trattoria or a winery to taste local products. Nearby are true gems of Veneto: Asolo, the "city of a hundred horizons," Possagno with its Temple and Gypsotheca by Canova, Maser with the villa designed by Andrea Palladio, and Montello, once a forest of the Serenissima.

In less than an hour, one can easily reach art cities such as Treviso, Bassano del Grappa, Castelfranco Veneto, and Vittorio Veneto with the Serravalle district and the Follina Abbey, as well as Venice, Padua, and Vicenza, thanks to good rail and road connections. In winter, the Dolomites rise on the horizon, making them a perfect destination for a day trip. Thus, the area offers an ideal balance of rural tranquility, historical charm, and unspoiled nature.
