At Malga Laben, time appears to slow down, allowing for tranquility and authenticity. Located in Contrada Pozze, in Velo Veronese, amidst the meadows and forests of Lessinia, this spot is in one of the oldest Cimbrian neighborhoods. Here, a historic barn and hayloft from the 1600s have been revitalized by the diligent efforts of Francesca and Andrea, who sought to maintain the essence of the place while incorporating modern comforts.

The rooms, each inspired by mountain themes and folk tales, welcome guests with warmth and simplicity. Wood, stone, and reclaimed materials evoke the charm of days gone by, while memory foam beds, private bathrooms, independent heating, and Wi-Fi ensure all conveniences. In the common area each morning, a hearty and wholesome breakfast is served, featuring homemade cakes, fresh bread, jams, yogurt, fruit, and hot beverages, including plant-based options. Savory choices or specific dietary requirements are available upon request.

For those seeking independence, the malga’s apartments—ranging from a cozy studio tucked away in the woods to a spacious three-bedroom unit made of ancient stone—offer thoughtfully furnished spaces that honor local traditions. All units come equipped with independent heating, high-speed internet, and shared outdoor areas with tables, chairs, loungers, and soon, a barbecue zone. A communal laundry room with a washer and dryer is also available.

The malga serves as the perfect starting point for experiencing Lessinia at a leisurely pace. Trails and paths begin right from the neighborhood, such as the CAI 251, which connects to the European E5 network. In winter, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and sledding provide enchanting landscapes, while in summer, the trails are ideal for long hikes, e-bike rides, or relaxing explorations among malgas, refuges, and forgotten neighborhoods. Nature lovers will discover unique geological monuments nearby, including the Ponte di Veja, the Molina Waterfalls, and the Spluga della Preta.

In the area, there are plenty of alpine huts, traditional restaurants, and local products to savor: cheeses like Monte Veronese DOP, brogna sheep salami, gnocchi sbatui, and homemade specialties served in the small home restaurant at the facility. Those who arrive on foot will be greeted with a smile, and perhaps even a coffee, because here, visitors come as guests and leave as friends.
Rooms and Rates
Breakfast is served every morning in the communal area, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a mountain lodge. Each day features homemade cakes made with seasonal ingredients, alongside fresh bread, artisanal jams, honey, yogurt, fresh and dried fruits, muesli, and natural juices.

Coffee, cappuccino, tea, and milk (including plant-based options) are also available. Upon request, you can enjoy a savory breakfast or receive special accommodations for specific dietary needs. This simple and authentic offering is designed to start your day with flavor and a leisurely pace.
Malga Laben also offers a home restaurant service, where you can enjoy simple dishes from the local tradition, made with fresh and seasonal ingredients. The cooking is homemade, inspired by the flavors of Lessinia and recipes handed down through generations.

In a cozy and family-like atmosphere, you will have the opportunity to savor typical cheeses, local cured meats, mountain gnocchi, and other regional specialties, all within a setting that combines friendliness and authenticity. It's a chance to experience the true taste of the mountains, surrounded by the tranquility of the countryside.

Area Collina

Lessinia is a plateau located to the north of Verona province, a place where nature, history, and culture blend harmoniously. Malga Laben is situated right in the heart of this ancient land, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters, in the Cimbrian district of Pozze, which is now part of the municipality of Velo Veronese. Here, the landscape unfolds into green meadows, pastures dotted with dry stone walls, and forests of beech and fir, creating an ideal environment for those seeking tranquility, silence, and a genuine connection with the mountains.

Lessinia is rich in evidence of Cimbrian culture, a Germanic people who settled in this area during the Middle Ages, leaving a lasting mark on the language, architecture, and traditions. Old stone hamlets, votive capitals, paved paths, and living place names tell a quiet yet present story, which can be experienced by walking through the villages or conversing with the locals. Giazza, located just a few kilometers from Malga Laben, is the last village where Cimbrian is still spoken and serves as the cultural heart of this linguistic minority.

From a natural perspective, the plateau offers extraordinary scenery and remarkable biodiversity. Among the most captivating destinations are the Ponte di Veja, an impressive rock formation that legend has it inspired even Dante; the Spluga della Preta, one of the deepest caves in Europe; the Molina Waterfalls; the Covoli of Camposilvano; and the Valley of the Sphinxes, a true "stone city" shaped by time. There are also numerous high-altitude pastures, where traditional grazing is still practiced in the summer, contributing to the preservation of the rural landscape and the production of typical cheeses and cured meats.

The region is crisscrossed by an extensive network of trails suitable for hikers of all levels, including several stretches of the European Path E5. Visitors can embark on easy scenic walks or more challenging treks, as well as mountain biking excursions or snowshoeing in the winter months, when the snow transforms everything into a muffled, fairy-tale setting.

Lessinia is also a land of flavors: Monte Veronese DOP cheese, brogna sheep salami, gnocchi sbatui, mountain honey, and many other products showcase the territory through taste. Numerous mountain huts and trattorias provide refreshments and typical cuisine, often accessible via walking or cycling routes.

In this unique context, Malga Laben serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the plateau slowly and deeply, uncovering an authentic mountain rich in stories, nature, and silence.
