Nestled among the oak woods that embrace the Apulian Murgia, La Casa degli Uccellini is a bio-agriturismo that tells a story of love for the land and its traditions. Positioned at an altitude of 530 meters in the area known as 'Serra del Porco,' this historic 19th-century farmhouse has been carefully restored by its owners, Marilù and Piero, transforming it into a place dedicated to sustainability, organic farming, and genuine hospitality.

Surrounded by pastures, cultivated fields, and ancient forests, the estate spans seven hectares of pristine land. Here, amidst lentisk trees, cistus, junipers, and wild pear trees, a unique form of dry farming thrives, without irrigation, focusing on ancient cultivars and local varieties. Every product, certified organic, comes from a transparent and mindful supply chain that prioritizes seasonality and quality. From Senatore Cappelli semolina to black chickpeas from Murgia, including cicerchie and barley flour, all results from a respectful approach to the land and its natural balance.

Today, the historic farmhouse features three cozy rooms, restored according to bio-building principles, using natural materials and rustic wooden furnishings. The spaces, such as the Caseddone—a two-level trullo with a skylight in the cone—and the Lamia with its spacious kitchen and hearth, retain the rural essence of the place, offering guests a warm and authentic atmosphere. At the heart of the agriturismo's life are the Corte, now a space for tastings and workshops, the kitchen with wooden beams and hanging vegetables, and the Aia, which hosts cultural events and evenings under the stars.

Every morning, a breakfast made with fresh, local ingredients is served, including homemade baked goods made from ancient grain flours. Guests can personally pick vegetables and herbs from the garden and participate in culinary workshops led by Marilù, who enjoys sharing her agricultural knowledge through food. Hospitality is also provided by little Ninetta, who enthusiastically guides visitors in exploring the farmhouse.

Staying at La Casa degli Uccellini means engaging with a reality that preserves the memory of the land and renews it daily through simple and authentic gestures. Whether enjoying barley cookies, strolling through the fields, listening to a summer concert, or learning to bake bread, each experience invites a sense of slowness and wonder.
Rooms and Rates
Every morning, a hearty and wholesome breakfast is served in the farmhouse kitchen, made with organic and locally sourced ingredients. The baked goods are crafted from ancient grains grown on the estate, such as Senatore Cappelli and Maiorca. You can enjoy homemade bread, barley cookies, artisanal jams, fresh milk from nearby farms, local cheeses, and capocollo from Martina Franca. To enhance the experience, seasonal fruits, aromatic herbal teas, and savory options are available upon request. This breakfast is designed to start the day in harmony with nature and the authentic flavors of Puglia.

Area Campagna

The House of Little Birds is located in Serra del Porco, at an altitude of 530 meters, in the heart of southeastern Murgia. We are in the inland area of Puglia, positioned strategically to easily reach some of the region's most enchanting destinations, such as Martina Franca, Alberobello, Locorotondo, Noci, Massafra, and Mottola. The landscape surrounding the property is characteristic of the wooded Murgia, an untouched and picturesque environment where ancient farmhouses alternate with pastures, arable land, and dense forests of holm oak and cork oak.

In spring, nature bursts into vibrant colors, while in autumn, the hues become warm and inviting, creating an ideal setting for those who love to walk, explore, or simply relax in the tranquility of the countryside. The Mediterranean scrub enriches the area with spontaneous species such as lentisc, junipers, rockroses, and wild pear trees, contributing to a rich and diverse ecosystem.

This area is perfect for those who want to combine the serenity of nature with the discovery of local traditions. The nearby villages offer cultural experiences, unique architectures like the trulli, and a cuisine that reflects the authentic spirit of Puglia. This corner of Murgia represents an ideal blend of scenic beauty, rural heritage, and geographic centrality, providing travelers with an authentic glimpse into a lesser-known part of the region.
