Valdonica is an elegant agrihotel nestled in the heart of Tuscany's Maremma, a place where nature, wine, and tranquility converge to provide an authentic experience. Here, time moves slowly among flourishing vineyards, rolling hills, and a view that stretches to the Mediterranean. Accommodations are offered in two distinct yet nearby locations: Capo Pagiano, a sophisticated historic residence featuring a restaurant and panoramic terraces, and Cantina, a nature-immersed retreat that has been created from the renovation of old sheepfolds.

Capo Pagiano, located in the village of Sassofortino, is a 13th-century residence transformed into a refined wine hotel. Its spacious, minimalist-designed rooms retain historical details and overlook a landscape that extends from the vineyards to the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. Breakfast and dining options are available to guests, while the swimming pool is located at the Cantina, just a short walk away.

Cantina serves as the vibrant heart of Valdonica, where agriculture meets hospitality. Its rooms, renovated in 2023, are integrated into the winery, allowing guests to closely experience the winemaking process. Located on the ground floor, they come with a terrace or private garden, providing a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, ideal for those seeking direct contact with nature. Breakfast is served at Capo Pagiano, and the pool is only a few steps from the rooms.

Each day begins with a breakfast made from local, authentic ingredients: sheep cheeses, regional cold cuts, artisanal jams, and traditional bread. For dinner, the restaurant offers exquisite dishes crafted by Chef Nicola, highlighting the flavors of Tuscan cuisine, perfectly paired with the estate's wines. Advance reservations are recommended.

The experience at Valdonica is enhanced by guided tastings, vineyard tours, and cooking lessons. Wine enthusiasts can join the “Tour & Taste” program, a journey through the vineyards and winery culminating in a tasting of six estate wines. Those passionate about cooking can delve into the secrets of Tuscan gastronomy through dedicated courses. For the utmost relaxation, massages can be requested in advance.

The panoramic pool, surrounded by vineyards, is a peaceful oasis with breathtaking views. Shaded by trees, it is perfect for a moment of rest on warm summer days. For a casual drink, the Cantina offers a self-service bar accessible to guests.

Valdonica is the ideal starting point for exploring Tuscany. The nearby village of Sassofortino, reachable on foot, provides a taste of local authenticity with its bars, restaurants, and traditional shops. Renowned wine regions such as Brunello, Chianti, and Bolgheri, as well as the artistic cities of Siena, Pisa, and Florence, are just a short distance away. For those who love the sea, the Tuscan coast is easily accessible for a day of golden beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Valdonica arose from an unexpected dream: a forsaken place that has been revived by a passion for wine and nature. From the first vineyard planted in 2009 to the establishment of hospitality in 2018, every corner of the estate tells a story of love for the land, sustainability, and the pursuit of excellence. A stay here is more than just a vacation; it is a journey through flavors, landscapes, and authenticity.

Hey, I'm Nicola

Valdonica is the result of an unexpected encounter, a place that transformed the life of its founder the moment he set foot there. He was in search of a summer retreat, but discovered much more: a land steeped in history and potential, with its ancient oaks and a view stretching to the Mediterranean. The energy of this location inspired him to make a significant change: to leave his career and embrace a new life amid vineyards and nature. In 2009, he planted the first rows of vines, marking the beginning of the Valdonica project, which has since expanded to include a winery, accommodations, and a restaurant. Every step has been driven by a deep respect for the land and a desire to create a harmonious place where wine, hospitality, and nature coexist in perfect balance. Today, Valdonica stands as a symbol of passion and renewal, a dream come true through a simple yet powerful idea: to celebrate the authentic beauty of this corner of Tuscany and share it with those seeking a genuine experience, surrounded by delicious food, excellent wine, and timeless landscapes.
