Surrounded by the greenery of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, Agriturismo Isca delle Donne is a family-run farm that has preserved and passed down the agricultural traditions of the Merola family for over a century. It is born from a love for the land, animals, and hospitality, which is evident in every corner of the property, from the authentic products to the warm welcome.

The core of the agriturismo consists of several buildings: the main structure houses the kitchen and dining room, where guests can savor dishes infused with tradition, prepared using ancient Cilento recipes. Nearby, the sales room offers the opportunity to purchase wine, oil, cheese, cured meats, preserves, honey, and many other products made directly on the farm. The three wooden cottages available for guests feature two bedrooms, a kitchen-living area, and a bathroom, along with modern comforts such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, TV, washing machine, dryer, equipped patio, and outdoor shower.

The property is set in an authentic agricultural environment, where bread is still baked in a wood-fired oven and wine is produced from a small vineyard lovingly tended. The Malvasia nera and Santa Sofia grapes tell the story of the revival of ancient varieties, while the olive grove, with its centuries-old Pisciottana trees, yields a sweet and fragrant oil. The garden supplies fresh vegetables for the kitchen, enhanced by lemons from the citrus grove, which are used to make syrups and limoncello.

The agriturismo features a farm with cows, goats, pigs, wild boars, horses, donkeys, and other animals. Every Thursday, visitors can take part in the educational farm experience, designed to connect both young and old with rural life. Guests can try their hand at milking a cow, making cheese, kneading bread with sourdough, harvesting vegetables, and participating in the grape harvest, including the traditional foot treading.

The location is ideal for discovering the wonders of Cilento. Nearby, visitors can explore historic villages such as San Severino di Centola and Camerota Alta, archaeological sites like Elea-Velia and Paestum, and natural wonders such as the Natural Arch, the Infreschi Cave, and the Capo Palinuro promontory. The region, also known for Ancel Keys' studies on the Mediterranean Diet, is a paradise for those seeking authenticity and genuine flavors, with specialties like the white fig of Cilento, the soppressata from Gioi, and the menaica anchovies.

Isca delle Donne is not just a place to stay, but a vibrant experience of rural culture to share and carry with you.
Rooms and Rates
At the restaurant of Agriturismo Isca delle Donne, guests can experience the authentic flavors of Cilentana tradition, made with ingredients that are grown and processed on-site. Open year-round, the eatery welcomes visitors into a simple, family-friendly atmosphere where each dish tells a story rooted in memory, the seasons, and respect for the land.

The kitchen is run by an Agrichef trained through the program supported by Campagna Amica, Terranostra, and Coldiretti, ensuring a focus on quality and short supply chains. The menu changes with the seasons, featuring specialties that are deeply rooted in rural cuisine, with recipes passed down through generations. Seasonal vegetables, wood-fired bread, fresh cheeses, artisanal cured meats, and house-made wine and olive oil take center stage in these genuine, flavor-rich dishes.

Each course is crafted to rekindle the joy of slow cooking, allowing time to enhance every ingredient. The restaurant invites patrons to slow down and savor the experience, surrounded by the aromas and stories of a land that preserves its roots intact.

Area Campagna

The area surrounding Agriturismo Isca delle Donne is a remarkable corner of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano, and Alburni National Park, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. This region is rich in history, pristine nature, and centuries-old traditions, inviting an authentic journey through landscapes, flavors, and memories.

Just a few minutes from the property, one can explore medieval villages frozen in time, such as San Severino di Centola, with its abandoned stone houses and alleys that tell a quiet past. Nearby, Capo Palinuro captivates with its steep cliffs overlooking the sea, marine caves, and crystal-clear waters that reflect the wild charm of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Camerota Alta preserves the traditional craftsmanship of terracotta and wood, while the archaeological sites of Elea-Velia and Paestum transport visitors back to the era of Magna Graecia, amidst Doric temples, mosaics, and monumental necropolises.

The region is a paradise for those who appreciate slow and sustainable tourism: trails that wind through forests and olive groves, rivers that emerge after underground journeys like the Bussento in Morigerati, and breathtaking natural vistas such as the Bay of Infreschi or the Natural Arch at the mouths of the Lambro and Mingardo rivers.

Cilento is also a land of culinary excellence. It is where the Mediterranean Diet was born, theorized by Ancel Keys while observing the lifestyle and eating habits of the local inhabitants. Today, the area boasts numerous Slow Food presidia, such as the white fig of Cilento, podolico cheese, Gioi's soppressata, and menaica anchovies, which represent not only exceptional products but also vibrant expressions of a material culture that remains deeply rooted.

Between sea and mountains, archaeology and craftsmanship, nature and spirituality, Cilento offers an intense and authentic experience, where every visit becomes a discovery and every landscape provides a new emotion.
